But even after you have faund parking lot in the vicinity of the Gardens, how do you there? We had seen many Leaf games in years gone by1 none in the last three or four. Wednesday night of1 week Don Gilhooly (one of the best players ever ta appr in a Bowrnanville uniform) and this reporter went up the big city ta see the Canadien - Leaf game. Don pulled into a parking lot - said: "Goad spot park, eh?" Sa I says "Yeab," but I really didn't kn where we were. Or maybe Gil wasn't where he thought was. After walking for three or four blocks, we reali2 we hadn't seen any of the usual hockey crowd. I was1 embarrassed ta ask anyone how ta get there, but "Gil", af- two tries finaliy found out that we bad ta retrace our StE and the Gardens would be just around the corner. We and it was. At least, we bath saw the game a lot differently than the Globeý and Mail reporter. He secmed ta think that Armstrong was onc af the better Leafs, but didn't even mention Pulford. Fle should know more about it than we country feilers, but If that was a gaod game, we agreed that we wouldn't want ta sec Armstrong in one of bis poor ones. Pulford was the leader on the attack, killed penalties and piayed an outstand- Ing game. It's unlikely that the Leafs will win too many games over the Montrealers, but Wednesday night tbey played close checking, bard checking hockey - and that is the onhy way the Canadiens are going ta be beaten. Even then, Bower was forced ta make at least four tremendous saves In tbe first period, although Leafs held a 15-7 edge in shats on goal. But, as spectators, we still missed the Rocket.
