*The Canadian Statesmnan, Bowmanville, Oct. 2, 196 SPORTopuCSII - --~By Frank Mohun 623-7234à: INTERMEDIATE PICTURE DIM Manager Bll Orme and Joe Cuddahee attended the first Intermediate hockey group meeting in Belleville last week, *and report the forming of a Lakeshore League of five clubs. * Trenton and Picton are back, Napanee is in again, and Cobourg will return ta the loap. Gananoque will be a new * ntry. Gradually the Intermediate scene has been slipping east- ward and now it has gone completely. There was a time *when Napanee didn't have a league to play in, then they entered the Lakeshore and now they are right in the centre of things. Fromn what we can gather there doesn't seem ta be much enthusiasm in Bowmanvile for hockey, although you would think the fans would be interested in a predominantly local club. We've had winners and losers aüid it doesn't seem to *inatter which. * Now, it wauld seem economically unsound to even con- aider entering such a league. While this reporter is unhappy to sfe the Intermediates fade from the picture - there doesn't appear to be any other course ta follow. We may be jumping the gun, because there is another meeting in Trenton, Tuesday night (Oct. 8th), but we don't expect any major hockey, other than the Generals. i. i. . i. t Courtice. Srs. Corne Second in Soccer Playof fs COF BOWLING Who will be the first team ta defeat Betty Westlake's team? The latest conquest was a three game sweep of Harry Snowden's team and despitei the fact they were one bowl-' er short. Betty's team con- tinues to bowl over 900 each game with all six bowlers corning up with good efforts. Another team to be reckon- ed with is the Gwen Dennis1 fteam who have oniy lbat one; game out of nine. It should be interesting when these two teams meet.
