METROiDIST DISTRICT MEETING. The animal meeting of the Bowman- vleDistrict convened i Oshawa, T'uesday May lSth, 11ev. Caleb Parker, cha1irman, presiding. 11ev. N. D.Drew, Blackstock, was elected secretary. The examination of ministerial' chaÎracter f ound ail the ministers blameless in conduct and doctrine. H. T. Lewis, B. À., Orono,, was continued on probation and will go college. H. E. Curts, a probationer, Tyroue, was advanced a year and will also attend college. Herbert W. Foley, Charles W. Barrett and W. S. Smart were admitted as candidates for the ministry. Notice was taken of the death of Rev. Win. Scales and a fitting obituary will be repared. The honored superannuated ~rethren-1evs. W. Jolliffe, D. C. Mc- Dowell and J. C. Seymour-were re- tained in their present position. At the full meeting on Wednesday at which the laymen were present it was decided that thie district meeting recom - mend that there be no change in the arrangement of circuits. A joint comn- mittee of this and Port Hope districts had met during the year and had suggested alterations in circuit bound- aries. 11ev. J. P. Wilsc)n, B. A., was elected to represent the District on the the Stationing& Commîttee. l'eV. A. C. Wilson and MrR.M~oment were elected members of the Sabbath School Comn- mittee of Conference. 11ev. S. G.Rork-, and Mr. C. J. Thornton go to the Epworth League Committee and 11ev. W. H. Adams and Mr. 0. Hezzlewood to theSustentationFundCommittee. The meeting placed on record by a standing vote its hîgh appreciation of the services of Rev. C. Parkr, the chairman, whose able and valued leadership it was about to lose. Its best wishes- and prayers would go with him. It was decided that Bowmanville should be the next place of meeting. 1ev. W. H. Adams and Messrs. Thornton and Moment were appointed to draft a resolution expressive of the district's strong dis- approval of Sabbath desecration in al forms, especially of the introduction of Sundav cars in the City of Toronto. Mr. Robt. Knox was chosed rtpresentatîve to the annual Conference Missonary Committee. The statistics reveal the financial matters slightlY in advance on the whole. The gross giving for this churcli for the gospel for the district are $25,000. There is an increase of 60 members. The ]av delegates to Conference are: M. A. James, John Hellyar, W. H.
