Peter Gerrits, driving his 18-foot Mandella SS Sports race craft, averaged 74.39 miles per hour around the 1.66 mile course for a total of five miles to set the record. Pete has a 427 L88 aluminum Cor-. vette engine la his§ boat with such goodies as alum- inum heads, and about 525 horsepower! The race, which was fully sanctioned by the Cao adian Boating Federation was held at Valleyfield, Que., and includ- ed races for the weli known seven litre speedsters such as Miss Supertest or Miss Budweiser.
