FLASHBACK - 25 Years Ago - The Cawker Stables of Bowmanville, climaxed a successful season at Central Ontario Horse Shows last week with a dlean sweep of the saddle and ladies' driving classes at the Roseneath Fair. In the saddle classes the winning horse was "Blossom", a four year old palomino mare, owned by George Cawker, and ridden by his mother, Mrs. T. W esley Cawker. Blossom has been un beaten in any show~ ring this year. In seven classes at local fairs the Cawkers have won seven firsts and three seconds. FLASHBACK - 10 Years Ago - On Wednes- day, Sept. 25th over 100 golfers from a wide area turned 'out for the Annual Shrine Club Tournament at Southview Golf Club. Bob James was winner of the golf tournament, and Ro0n Hawthorne winner of the draw prize. Charles L. Warren, in charge of the event, made the presentations. JUNIOR "1C' - Red Eagles won their first exhibition game against Port Hope, in the "local arena on Sunday evening, by a score of 7-4. This Sunday.evening, at the usual time of Junior '&C"> home games, the team will play Lindsay in the opening game of the schedule. BADMINTON - The Bowmanviiie Recreation Department will be offering badminton to any- une wishing to play this season, in the new Bow- manville High Schuol gym on Monday and Thursday evenings. FANS -at the Junior "C" hockey game on Sunday last, were calling for the referees to tighten up on the calîs and put the offenders in the sin-bmn before fights began and injuries were incurred. Many times the question has been asked "why don't the fans corne out? " Maybe the answer to that is, "True athletes and spectators just don't go in for the type of hockey as it is being played today. It appeared that players for most of the game were making certain they weren't going to be outmuscled by their opponents and as a resuit the penalties and confrontations came often. Frank's Pee Wees Lose to Cobourg Tie Markham In a very close game played in Bowmanville on Monday, Octoben 8tb, Cobourg edged Bowmanville's Frank Real Estate Major Pee Wees 3-2 by scoring in the last seconds of the game. Bowmanville took the lead early in the game on a goal by number. 16, Steven Frank, assisted by number 14, Dennis Sobil. Cobourg tied it up and then Bowmanville pulled ahead in the second period on a booming shot by number 3, Paul Cascagnette, on an assist by number 15, dohn Stewart. Cobourg then came back to score while Bowmanville was sbort-handed and put the last one in witb one second left, in the game. Cobourg,scored at the 12 minute mark. Jon Janack got the go ahead wrist shot goal in the second period, assists from linemates Mark Abbott and David Tower.
