The shark's liver must be white in color, he says, and must be taken from a shark caught during the new phase of the moon. And if you would hear my story, just buy me a couple of beers Now, the Gods of Golf were feeling rather bored one day As they looked down from Heaven and watched poor old Lie play. When suddenly they looked at each other with a delighted grji And asked, "What would it take to make this clown win?"> Suppose, if a littie false information into the computer we feu( Do you think we could make this joker into another Sam Sneed Now, as golfers go, 1 guess I arn the usual sort of a duffer. Altbough every year my game got rougher and rougher But suddenly 1 felt a magic touch and I seemed to corne ah\, And straight down the fairway, I cut loose a savage, scream i ii drive. fi-A --ni- in ta finish the hole with a beautiful, par fiv On the next hole, I shot an eagle and then a birdie or two, But I knew in my secret heartthat it was too good to be tr iie For the Gods of Golf laughed as that computer ran arnuck For then I shot a couple of seagulîs and a low flying duck. 1 stood there and 1 said why this golfing game is fun& For aIl that I had left to shoot was a hole in one. So 1 teed my baîl up high, let out another foot of shaft, Reared up on rny hind feet and then I let hier "Blast" And the Gods of Golf looked down and laughed._ Straight as William Tell's arrow that white pili flew Bounced on the green and then rolled, so straight and true, But of course, with my luck, a mischievous breeze Playfully shook the flag before it died away in the trees. 1 held my breath as my bahl rolled straight for the pin And I prayed a bit but it didn't help for it didn't fal in. And the Gods of Golf looked at each other with a sadistic grill Now 1 arn really not the type of guy that would'lose ny coo But I thought that somebody up there was playing dirty pou 1 strolled across the green clutching my deadly putter And 1 was as cool as a grill that couldn't melt butter 1 lined up my hall with a blacksmith's, educated eye- For after ail a six inch putt is not a bad lie. With a handful of _grass I tested the breeze Took a few practice swings just as free as you please The whole world was wrapped in silence, not a sound uld 1 hear Except for a lone little mosquito that was buzzing aroildnd m ear. And the Gods of Golf snickered as they opened up another bee i In'a moment of truth I tapped rny bail just as hie nailed n And it went screaming across the green and slammed into a tre Then the Gods of Golf really roared in rnirth As 1 foamed at the mouth and tore up the earth. Now if you ever go golfing up at Erinlea And you see a golf cart hanging in a tree Observe a moment of silence for poor old Llew And pray like Hell that it neyer happens to you., For the Gods of Golf are malicious and cruel And they love to turn a duffer into a clown and 'a fool. Yes, at the l9th hole you'll find me sitting in a pooî of tears A bitter, broken man, looking older than my years With the sound of insane laughter, ringing in my ears.
