OBITUARIES THIOMAS GEORGE LYLE A popular and well known citizen who will be sadly missed by ail who knew him, Thomas George Lyle, aged 60, passed away suddenly at bis home, 4 Prospect Street, Bowmanville, on Sunday, Oct- ober 2lst, 1973. A bachelor. he was born and Gylen Rue IT'S GOOD H E educated in Bowmanville, and had resided at 4 Prospect Stiteet bis entire life. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lyle who predeceased him. Employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Ltd. for 29 years, he was a member of the Bowmanville Fire Depart- ment for 43 years, Chief of the department for several years' and at the time of bis death was a Captain. Surviving are bis brothers and sisters Marion (Mrs. R. Moynes) Washago, Alec, Edith (Mrs. J. Bentley), Louis, ail of Bowmanville, Lucy (Mrs. A. E. Cole), Cobourg; Doris (Mrs. R. Leverington), Markdale; John, Barbara (Mrs. D. McKendrick) and William, Bowmanville. Several nieces and nephews also mourn bis passing. A sister Mary (Mrs. Alfred Milîson) predeceased him. The funeral was held on Wednesday, October 24th from the Morris Funeral Chapel with Reverend N. E. Schamerhorn officating. Palîbearers were members of the Bowmanville Fire Department, Capt. W. Ruiter, Capt. H. Davey, Deputy Chief R. Guislain and firemen S. Oke, R. Welsh and R. Smith. Beautiful floral tributes were received from the Bow- manville Fire Dept., Newcas- tle Fire Dept., the mayor and council, town of Bowmanville, management and staff Coron- ation Restaurant, staff of Nichols Motor Sales, Branch 178 Royal Canadian Legion, Dept. 2713 Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Ltd. and the Midland Regiment. Honorary palîbearers were Chief Stacey, Oshawa Fire Dept., Chief Greer, County Co-ordinator Cobourg; Chief Glanville, Newcastle Fire Dept., Orono Fire Dept., Chief Hayman, Bowmanville Fire Dept., Albert Naylor, Newcas- tle Fire Dept., Lawrence Gaines, Newcastle Fire Dept., W. Hatelv. H. Murphy, H. Bartlett, A. Fletcher, C. Pethick, D.. Alldread, F. Smith, all of Bowmanville; Chief Crouch, Whitby Fire Dept., Chief Evans, Ajax Fire liept., five officers from the Police Department. Twelve members of the Bowmanvjlle Fire Department Personnel. Interment was in Bowman- ville Cemetery. JOHN NEMISZ A former employee of Ont- ario Malleable Iron for many years who retired in 1944, John Nemisz passed away at the Toronto General Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 8, 1973 follow- ing an il week îllness. He lived atRR 3, Bowmanvilje (Courtice) . Born Oct. 23, 1896 in the Ukraine, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Onufry Nemisz. He was married Nov. 22, 1913 in Montreal where he lived for a short time, and had lived in Courtice 'for the past 52 years. Following his retirement he worked on his farm.
