NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that application bas been made for approval to expropriate an easement over lands described as follows: ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate, lying and being in the Town of Bowmanville, in the County of Durham, in the Province of Ontario and being composed of Part of Lot 12, Concession 1, in the said Town of Bowmanville, more particularly described as follows: PREMISING that the West limit of said Lot 12 bas a bearing of North 17 degrees 59 minutes west and relating all bearings used herein thereto; To find-the Point of Commencement begin at the south-west angle of said Lot 12, Concession 1; THENCE North 17 degrees 59 minutes west in and along the said west limit of said Lot 12 a distance of 1193.09 feet to the Point of Commencement; THENCE North 17 degrees 59 minutes west in and along the west limit of said Lot 12 a distance of 50 feet to a point; THENCE North 72 degrees 01 minutes east a distance of 29.77 feet to a point; THENCE North 65 degrees 47 minutes east a distance of 274.23 feet to a point; THENCE South 24 degrees 13 minutes east a distance of 50 feet to a point; THENCE South 65 degrees 47 minutes west a distance of 276.95 feet to a point; THENCE South 72 degrees 01 minutes west a distance of 34.49 feet to the west limit of said Lot 12 and the POINT OF COMMENCEMENT. The above described parcel contains by admeasurement 0.35 acres. Any owner of lands in respect of which notice is given who desires an inquiry into whether the taking of such land is fair, sound and reasonably necessary in the achievement of the objections of the expropriating authority shah so notify the approving authority in writing, (a) in the case of a registered owner, served personally or by regsteredmaitwithin thirty days after he is served with the notice, or, when he is served by publication, within thirty days after the first publication of the notice; (b) in the case of an owner who is not a registered owner, within thirty days after the first publication of the notice. The Expropriations Act Provides that, (a) where an inquiry is requested, it shall be conducted by an inquiry officer appointed by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General; (b) the inquiry officer, (i) shall give every party to the inquiry an opportunity to present evidence and argument and to examine and cross- examine witnesses, either personally or by bis counsel or agent, and (ii) may recommend to tbe approving autbority that a party to the inquiry be paid a fixed amount for bis costs of the inquiry not to exceed $200.00 and the approving authority may in its discre- tion order the expropriating autbority to pay sucb costs fortbwith. 2. The expropriating authority, each owner who notifies the approving authority that he desires a hearing in respect of the lands intended to be expro- priated and any owner added as a party by the inquiry officer are parties to the inquiry. The Mother's Fellowship held a card party at the community hall on Friday evening with 24 present. High lady, Mrs. Hobbs; low lady,, Jean Laurion; high man, Maurice Pollard; low man, Mark Laurion. Mr. and Mrs. David Stainton and family were Sunday visitors with parents, the L. Stainton's. The Mother's Fellowship enjoyed visiting on Monday at the home of Mrs. Lambert. Her home is all antique which was wonderful to see. Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Ashton accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harry Worden, Bowmanville R. R. 2 to view one of Oshawa Kiwanis Club's monthly trav- elogues "The Alps" at East- dale Collegiate, Oshawa. We miss the pleasant coun- tenance at our General Store as our storekeeper Mr. John Slemon is under medical attention in Memorial Hospi- tal. Our wishes are for a quick return to excellent health for him as well as Mr. Roy McGill. An interesting Coppercraft Guild Show was at Mrs. O. C. Ashton's when she entertained some close neighbors which ncluded tiny Darryl John MacKenzie and his mother. Mrs. C. J. Austin, Bowman- ville, was a recent visitor of Mesdames Harold and O. C. Ashton. Young Adults Group The Young Adults Group held their third meeting at Enfield Church on Sunday, Nov. 11th. A very pleasant evening was spent recently renewing old acquaintances when the Cour- tice Couple's Club celebrated the 25th anniversary of its inception. The guests were received by Presidents John and Enid Decoe, Babe and Wilf Brown, who were the first Presidents of the Club, and Lloyd and Eileen Down who are Charter Members. The hall was beaut- ifully decorated for the occa- sion in silver and blue motif and the tables for the dinner were attractive with bouquets of carnations and dried flow- ers. Approximately 150 people sat down to a sumotuous meal. Mr. Lloyd Down very cap- ably acted as Master of Ceremonies and brought back many memories as he recall- ed many highlights of activit- ies during the pest 25 years. Gerald Brown, chap- lain of the 110 boys at Pine Ridge Boys' School, Bowman- ville. Our large group of girls and their leaders are relaxing now as the 'autumn unit of our 4-H Homemakers' Club is over with a fine attendance at Achievement Day in Clarke High School on Saturday. Like the old fairy tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin we witnessed an exodus of little, middle sized and grown up folks as they left our wee hamlet to follow their choice of interests to either the wonderful Santa Claus Parade in Bowmanville on Saturday morning or to the display and program at 4-H Homemakers Achievement Day at Clarke High School. We are pleased to report that Mr. John Slemon is home again as good as new after his sojourn at Memorial Hospital, but take it easy John.
