There is no indi- cation on how soon he will be discharged. OITUARIES MRs. EmI1LY GERTRUCE HIARDING Mrs. Emnily Gertrude Hard- ing died suddenfly at the Dr. J. O. Ruddy General Hospital, Whitby, Thurýsday, Dec. 13, 1973. She lived at 409 Centre St. S., Whitby, and had formerly lived in Brooklin. Born in Birmingham, Eng- land in 1889 she was the daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. William Flint and was mar-ried Jan. 1, 1920 at Schomberg, Ont., and had resided in the area since 1923. Mrs. Harding was a mem- ber of Ail Saints' Anglican Church, and a member of Whitby Senior Citizens' Club. Uler husband, Stanley C. Harding, died dan. 28, 1969. She is survived by one daughter, Mirs. S. Crago (Muriel) of Bomanivlle; one son, Williami of Whitby; two brother-s, Oliver- of Guelph; Joseph of Flint, Mich.; and five gadhlrn Mrs. Hlardjing rested at the W. C. Town Funieral Chapel for service oni Saturday at 2 p'i.. Itermetiwýas in Mouint Lawn Cemeýtery. Rev. J.A Roney of Alil Saintls' Agia Church officiated. CHESTER DEWELL A former employee of Gen- eral Motors who retired in 1958 w ith 36 years' service, Chester Dewell died at the Oshawa Gener-al Hospital Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1973. H1e had been in poor.health for the past seven months. He lived at 319 Kingsdale Ave., Oshawa. Born Sept. 24, 1890 in Fenelon Township, Victoria County, Ont., he was the sone Bo rn Sept. 24, 1890 in Fenelon Township, Victoria C( ',Ont., be was the son of ti Mýi r. and Mrs. Fr.ankin He was married Sept. 14, 1916) in Oshawa where he lived for- 55 years. H1e was an adherent of the Free Methodist Church, Ross- land Rd. W., and was a former member of the UAWA Local 222. His wife, the former Mable Florence Morphy Clarke, died Sept. 14, 1967. H1e is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank Bal (Ferne) of Oshawa; two sous, Garfield Clarke of Bowman- ville; Jack Dewell of Oshawa; one sister, Mrs. Percy Haight (Effie) of Lindsay; five grand-' children; and _five, great- grandchildren. Mr. Dewell rested at the Armstrong Funeral Home with service in the chapel Saturday. Interment was 'in Mount Lawn Cemetery with Rev. R. H. James officiating.
