The question of interest in the monthly meetings was brought up. Fred Hawes, president of the Centre said, "People aren't interested in the monthly meeting but are interested in the activities." He went on ta suggest that perbaps there shouid be an annual meeting and that the committees sbould take care af the activities. He said, 'We baven't reaiiy put on too much. "It was aiso brought ta the attention of the members that there does not seem to be as much interest in the centre as there -was a year ago. -President Resigns Fred Hawes resigned bis position of president of the Brown's. Com muni ty Centre at the meeting. He said, "I feel that I am flot being fair ta the remoining members of the committee." He felt that he was spreading his lime 100 tbinly and that someone who wos able to devote more lime to the centre might be a better choice toc the presidency. The question of what ta do about the executive was brought up. il was noted that the post of registrar will be vacant at the end ai January when Marg Ibbotson has said that she will resign. Mrs. Cameron bas volunteered for the position. Mc. and Mrs. Bob Golder bave been hired for the Celebrates First Birthday Obviously quite thrilled and happy about it, Michelle Denise Connaghan had her first birthday on Monday, Dec l7th. She is the daughter of Richard and Sheila Connaghan and the proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Foskett and Mr. 'and Mrs. Mandy Connaghan, Bowmanville. Il appears that the original names sub- mitted, including Brown's Community Centre, and Golf 'Course Road centre bave been rejected. The last names submitted by the Centre bave not been officially rejected yet. Joan Simpson br.ou'gbt up the subject of the cbildren's bingo parties. Prizes, not money, are given, and she suggested using the cash on bond for these prizes and for snacks foc the cbildren. Betty Johnson was put in charge of setting up a commit- tee ta initiate a welcome wagon service, and to send flowers or cards ta community people who are bospitalized. The community, centre needs card tables, and a sound system. Tbey are looking int the purchase of a Gestetner copying machine, and will perbaps issue a newsletter or send out flyers to generate interest in the community. The major need bowever is the support from the pewopie whýo live bere.
