Bowmanville Brow- nie and 3rd Guide Mothers Association held their 3rd Annual Cornmunity Fair in the cafeteria of the new Bowman ville High School on Saturday March 16,1974, with a tremen- dous crowd present. The fair was opened by Mr. Alex Carruthers, M.P.P. for Durham. The booths werd appropriately decorated and contained many beautiful and useful items. Brownie Mothers Associ- ation; Delicatessen, 2nd. New- castle Guides Aux; Horticul- ture, 3rd. Guide Co.; Knitting, Maple Grove Brownies & Guide Mothers Aux.; Penny Sale, Hospital Aux.; Used Books, Business and Profes- sional Women's Club; Used Toys, 3rd. Cub Pack Aux.; White Elephant, Senior Citi zens; Crafts - A Dollar and Under, Kinettes; Kitchen Booth, Bowmanville Nurse's Association; Cookies, 1st. Bowmanville Brownie Pack; Easter Booth, 2nd. Guide Co. For the best decorated booth, the judges, Mr. and Mrs. A. Carruthers, selected The Easter Booth by the 2nd Bowmanville Guide Co. for 1st. prize and The Knitting Booth by Maple Grove Brown- ie and Guide Mothers for 2nd Prize. The Convenor of the fair, Mrs. G. Nelson and her committee members Mes- dames, C. Stalker, L. Redfern, L. Carlsen, R. J. Van den Wildenberg, C. Mutton, J. Moorcraft, J. Down, H. Dow, H. Locke, and D. McGregor, who put in many long hours of work, were rewarded by the great success of the fair. Invited to pour in the tearoom were: Mrs. K. Rus sell 3rd Bowmanville Brow- nie and 1st. Misses Norma and Beulah Hallowell, Bowmanville, had Thursday supper with Mr. and Mrs. Llew hallowell. Mr. Leslie Henry, Moosmin, Sask. returned home Saturday from visiting Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hallowell. Mrs. John Murphy spent a few davs last week with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold McColm, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Murphy, Toronot, were home for the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy. Also Pat was home. The U.C.W. was held at Mrs. Brenton Farrows home last Wednesday. Mrs. Farrow gave the devotional and show- ed pictures of her trip last year to the Eastern Provinces. Fourteen members were pre- sent and it was decided that the Bazaar will be held on Oct. 30th. this year. The next meeting will be the ist. Wednesday in April at the home of Mrs. Bruce Brittell.
