Section Two The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, October 30,1974 11 Dedicate 2 Memorial Windows at Trinity Churcb Auxiliary Holds Successful 28th Birthday Party A highlight in the history of Trinity United Church was the dedication of two beautiful memorial windows on Sunday, October 20, 1974, during the morning service. Gordon Barrie, chairman of the Board of Stewards, presented the windows for dedication and they were accepted by Rev. Wesley Oake as a sacred trust with reverence and gratitude. The window in the east side of the sanctuary was erected by the congregation in loving memory of Mr. and Mrs. Milton J. Elliott. William Reid represented the family in the dedication. In the west side the window was a gift in loving memory of Harry V. Cryderman by his wife Clio, who took part in the dedication of this window. 650Increase in Durham Night Classés Night School enrollment this Fall at Durham College shows a considerable increase over last year. The Ontario Real Estate Association courses continue to have a strong appeal with 111 enrolled in the various cours- es. Technology Division cours- es which have proven to be most popular this year are Dental Radiology (27 stu- dents); Electronic Fundame- ntals (21 students); and Math- ematics 1 (25 students). The Nursing course which has strongest enrollment is Nursing Sciences 1, with 36 students enrolled. Canada Power Squadron courses continue to attract a good number of students, with 153 enrolled in the various courses. In regard to Off-Campus courses, there are seven courses mounted at the Ajax High School with 59 students enrolled. MORE DRIVERS The number of licenced drivers in Canada is increas- ing at a rate greater than the population growth, says the Ontario Safety League. In 1962, approximately one third of the population held drivers licences. In 1972, almost half the population were licenced drivers. In thanking the organization for its generous gift, president Dunn expressed the branch's apreciation of the loyal sup- port and generous financial gifts from the local Legion Ladies Auxiliary over many years. The Bowmanville Golden Legionnaires gave a wonder- ful musical program in which the excellent voices blended advantageously to delight the large audience. Director John Crookshank led the memora- ble vocal selections and play- ed the piano accompaniment. The selections were: "Glee Club" with four part singing, "Kentucky Babe," then a hymn arrangement '"O Wor- ship The King," "Walk with God," followed by "Edel- wiess" from "The Sound of Music" with James Fair as the fine soloist, "No Man Is an Island," "Aura Lee," and "In The Gloaming." The closing number , a splendid rendition of "Nature's Praise of God,", was awarded an enthusiastic standing ovation by the listen- ers. On behalf of the auxiliary, 2nd Vice-president Bissonette thanked the Legionnaires and presented a cheque. During a short business meeting, plans for the auxilia- ry's Euchre Team were made for its participation in the Regional Euchre Tournament to be held in Gananoque, next Saturday. Those on the team are: 1st Vice-president Shee- han, Comrades Anne Piper, Jess Lightfoot and Florence Knight. President Colmer an- nounced that the bus to take local members to the Social Evening to be given by the Uxbridge Legion Ladies Auxi- Specia I 51 King St. East assistedby~Comrade Lightfoot was in charge of the Sports Draw.
