Rolling games of 316, 293, and 339, for a total of 948, he now leads the bowlers for the season, in all leagues. WINNERS - of the annual Model Car contest held recently, and sponsored by the Hooper Trophy Centre were 1st Wayne Fleetwood, 2nd Kevin Gibson, 3rd Chris Willoughby with honorable mention going to Harve Snyder. The winners were presented with trophies donated by the Hooper Trophy Centre. THE EASTERN CANADIAN JUDO - tourna- ment, one of the major Canadian tournaments with approximately 300 participants from Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, was held Saturday, Nov. 2, at Jarvis Collegiate, Toronto. Two members of the Maple Leaf Judo Club, R.R. 2 Bowmanville, competed, with Helen Blczyk, placing second in the women's middleweight event, and Randy McLeod placing third in the men's middle- weight. Constable McLeod is a member of the O.P.P. detachment at Newcastle. County Defeat Lockes Kramps Edge Hoopers For First Win of Year by L. Burns County Chrysler continued their winning streak last Thurs. by defeating Lockes T.V. 10 to 4. County came out fighting, as usual, going ahead in the first game 4 to 1. Goals for C.C. were John Hughes, John Kramp, John Oyler, his first of three, an Jerry Drohan. For Lockes it was Robbie Donoghue. County got two more in the second by Oyler and Drohan. Kramps came back with two by Bruce Meadows and Randy Donoghue. County finished the second with goals by Oyler, Woody Lee and Wayne Pearce. Third period only saw two goals, one by John Hughes of County and one by Rick Woolner of Lockes. There were eight minor penalties given, 6 to County Chrysler and 2 to Lockes T.V. In the second game,Kramps Furniture won their first game of the year by defeating Hoopers Jewellers 6 to 2. For the irst two eriods it was al Kramps, goals were scored by Ron Hooper, Doug Crough Barry Oliver and Joe Balson Kramps continued their scor ing in the third on.a goal by Sandy Brown at 1:53. Hoopers got on the board on a goal by Brian Mills, but Kramps came on their final goal by Rick Morrow. These teams were faced with a 65 mile course which ran on roads classed as paved to passible. Most of the cars made it back. First place was taken by Wally Pitt and Brian Tink who were awarded a trophy donat- ed by Hooper's Jewellery of Bowmanville. Second place, Don Go yne and Glenn Martin. Third place Malcolm Simpson and Danny Hanewick. Cheap Penalties Costly For Major Midgets as They Lose to Cobourg Major Midgets edged Bowmanville Sports Major Midgets 2-1 on Wed., Oct. 30th in a game played at Bowmanville. Cobourg opened the scoring in the first period and scored the winning goal in the second. Bowmanville carried the play in the third period but were able to score only one goal. This was scored by Gerald "Duke" Brunt with Terry Sarginson and Jim Hutton assisting. Bowmanville had many op- portunities to score more goals but either missed the net or were beaten by the Cobourg goalie. Bowmanville tied itup on a goal from Joe Nihili with assists going to Rod Plain and Barry Cullen. A few minutes later, Bow- manville went ahead on a goal from the same line, this time scored by Rod Plain, assisted by Joe Nihill and Bill Sains- bury. Once more Cobourg scored while Bowmanville had two men in the penalty box, to go ahead 3-2. With less than a minute to go Bowmanville pulled their goalie Steven Skene and Cobourg quickly scored on an open net to win 4-2. Preston the Movers play in Lindsay then on Sunday they are in Ajax for a game at 6:05 p.m. Town League Action In the first Town League hockey game on Thursday Hooper's Jewellers defeated Lockes T.V. 7 to 5 to go into second place. Hoopers opened the scoring at 2:35 with Larry Jean scoring, then Dave Colwell scored his first of four. Lockes got on the board with a goal by Gary Wilson with Randy Donaghue assisting. Lanny Burns scored twice for Hoopers to end the first period. Lockes started the second on a goal by Rick Woolner, his first of three in this period. Ken Ashton scored the other goal for Lockes. Hoopers Colwell scored twice more to end the second. The third period went scoreless until Dave Colwell got his final goal at 18:38 to end the scoring. There were seven minor penalties, three to Hooper's, four to Lockes. In the second game, County Chrysler continued their win- ning. streak by defeating Kramp's Furniture 6 to 4. County jumped out in the first period 5 to 0. Goals were scored by Warren Alder, Larry Simpson, Woody Lee and two by Jerry Drohan. The second period went scoreless. In the third, Kramp's came back with four unanswered goals. Goals were scored by Wayne Peyton, Joe Balson and two by Wray Rendeil. County's John Oyler finished the scoring at 19:59.
