SALAD DRESSII CHARLES DOUGLAS PALMER A barber by trade, Charles Douglas Palmer died at Hills- date Manor Saturday, Nov. 16. He had been ili for several months. Born Dec. 3, 1892 in Eldon Township, he was a son of tfie late Ilr. and Mrs. William Henry Palmer, and cducated in the ycllow school house north of Port Perry. He joined the Canadian Army and servcd overseas during the First World War >with the 38th Battalion and was \vounded in action. He worked for the civil service when hie came home from the army and afterwards operated a barbershopin Port Perry, Peterborough, Oshawa and Toronto. He retired'late 1950, and had lived in Oshawa since that time. 1He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Bran- ch 43. His wife, the former Armin- cia Elizabeth Enright, died before him. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Roy Salter (Edith) of RUR. 3, Newtonville; two brothers, Harry of Hampton and Russell of Oshawa.- Funeral service was held Monday frorn Melntosh-An- derson Funeral Home, Osha- wa, with interment in Pros- pect Cemetery, Toronto. MARIE ISABELLE GARTSIIORE An elcmentary sehool teacher in varions communit- ics' until retirement, Marie Isabelle Gartshore aged 73, passed away, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Saturday, Novem ber 9th, 1974. Confined to home and hos- pital for several ycars, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Issac Newton Selby, (Emma Jane Coe). Born in Newcastle she, was educated in Newcastle, and Peterborough Normal School. Returnîng to Newcastle in 1956 her last position was with Simcoe Hall Crippled Child- ren's School, Oshawa. A member of Newcastle United Church, she was also a member of the U.C.W. theý Women's Institute,, the Pion- cer Button Club, the F., W. T. A. 0., and later the Super- annuated Teachers of Ontario. Surviving is a sister Majorie (Mrs. Samuel Powell, R. R. No. 3, Newcastle). Predeceas- ed by a sister -Minnie (Mrs. Eric Wicks) and brothers Carl and Russell, A private family funeral at the request of the deceased was held from the Morris Funeral Chapel, on Monday, with Reverend T.H. Smith officiating. Palîbearers were Messrs. Franik Hoar, Beverley Jaynes, George Kimbali. LUTHER LOCKEI An employee of Duplate Limited, Luther Locke died at the Oshâwa General Hospital, Saturdav. Nov. 16, 1974, fol- lowing a lengthy illness. He, lived at 241 Hibbert Ave., Oshawa. Born Mav 1. 1924 in Trehar- ris, Wales, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Locke of Oshawa. Uc was rnarried June "22, 1946 in St. George's Anglican Church, Oshawa, where he lived most of his life. He was a member of St. Geroges Anglican Church, and was a member of the UAW.,% Local 222, and served overseas with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War.
