Bazzar-Court Lady Snow- bird On Wednesday evening ap- proximately one hundred lad- les, gentlemen and children availed themselves of the opportunity and attended the annual bazaar sponsored by Court Lady Snowbird in the Nestleton Community Centre. Past President Sister Jean Bolan extended the welcome and introduced Mrs. George Heaslip who was given the honour of officially opening the bazaar. Quote Mrs. Hea- slip's congratulatory remarks "Ladies and Gentlemen: I have been invited to open this bazaar for Court Lady Snow- bird. I really do not know why I was given this honour - perhaps because the Princess Anne could not return to the country so soon after her opening of the Royal Winter Pair and our Lady Lieutenant Governor has too many com- mitments. So, I flatter myself that I am third in line. Anyway, this is a great opportunity to tell this group, of ladies called Court Lady' Snowbird just what'I think of them; and they need not look startled. I am not too familiar with the organization but I do know that they are making substantial contributions to the Cancer Research Fund, which in itself is something we must all support. But, in addition, as a member of, Cartwright Recreation Board and the committee for this Nestleton Recreation Centre, I am truly amazed at what they have done, and are doing for this community. With their bake sales, bazaars, catering and lances their donations are terr ic - the well here, the dra.ps, furnishings, kitchen equipment and they are plan- ning more. The work and dedication of this small group should be an inspiration to alk our organizations. To-night is fun and games. There are draws on a valuable hamper of food as well as other prizes. There is a penny sale, a touch and take table and of course lovely things to buy at the baked goods' table, the gift table and interesting white elephants. Do let us support this worthwhile endeavour and send the ladies home with nothing but money. I so declare this bazaar officially open and say buy, buy and I do mean BUY. Long tables had been placed in the centre of the hall. These were laden with delectable pies, cakes, bread, etc. in the baked goods section. The Craft ta bles exhibited skilled workmanship in jewellery, bird cages, slippers, toys aid other items too numerous to mention. Tables were sur- rounded by eager buyers and in a short time only a few items remained. Tea tables, with gaily col- oured luncheon cloths, and unique Christmas centres were arranged along each side of the hall. These were soon laden with assorted sand- wiches and plates of cookies, tiny pastries and delicious cakes. Tea and coffee were served as the beverage. The ladies of Court Lady Snowbird, with faces beam- ing, were delighted with the financial returns and also with the gay and social atmosphere durIng the evening. This was a fitting climax for past presi- dent Jean Bolan's successful term in office and a splendid beginning for the new presi- dent, Dorothy Lee. Congratu- lations ladies, and good luck in 1975. Nestleton Sunday Services Presbyterian In the Presbyterian Church Mr. Brian Fraser chose as his topic "Emmanuel-God with Us," reading a portion from the Gospel of Mark. "What is the significance of God's presence which we celebrate at Christmas? Three things must be remembered. The presence of God arouses the opposition. God's presence initiates the selfish desires of men. God's presence is shown in the living people's respons- iveness to God and their fellowmen." Mr. S.McNeely and Mrs. H. Visser sang "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing." United Church In the United Church Rev- erend Victor Parsons spoke on the theme-"Smile! God Loves You". Advent means "The Coming". Advent is the period including four Sundays before Christmas beginning on St. Andrews Day, November 30, on the Sunday nearest to it either before or after. We look forward to it with anticipation. It is a happy time and should reveal God's presence in our attitude of "Love" to our fellowmen. The choir sang, "Wind Through the Olive Trees." Burke ton Mrs. K. Robli. visited Mrs. J.
