8 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, January 22, 1975 WRl. News W.1. Federation Meeting Federated Women's Insti- tutes of Ontario met in the King Edward Hotel in Toronto from January 13th - l7th. Mrs. Harvey L. Noblitt, Ottawa, the president presided when ail 32 Subdivisions of Ontario were represented. La her pres >- ident's address, it was learned that the Officer's Conference at Waterloo University had been most successful. t is' hoped that the, learning ex- perience is fully shared with the branches at home, and full time given for reports. During the week of Women's nstitute week in June, 1974, 1,300 visited the Erland Lee home, which is, the property of the F.W.I.O. Records of atten- dance at the 14 Area Conven- tions are: District voting delegates 96 per cent; Area branches represented 77 per cent and total number voting delegates at 80 per cent. A trophy is presented to the District, with highest attend- ance, it seems to be an incentive for better attend- ance. La the past two years 239l branches made an increase in membership of 20 per cent. Mrs. Wm. G. Miller, Scar- borough, the secretary treas- urer reported attending many committe0 meetings. She was chairman of FWLO supplies sales at the Officers Confer- ence. They amounted to $1,833.00. Mrs. Miller stayed at the Erland Lee home during Women's Institute week, when the 1,300 visited. Mrs. Austin Zoeller, New Hamburg, re- ported on the disposition of the 1973 Resolutions. Mrs. George Bott, Charlton Station, is the new appointment to this committee. Mrs. Harvey Houston, Luck- now, presented the Public Relations report. Trent Valley and Grey-Bruce now have il years continuous 100 per cent reporting. A highlight of 1974 was the presentation of a scholarship to honor Mrs. Noblitt fromf the Ottawa area, for the contribution she has made to the work of Women's Institute at home and abroad. Good public relations are fostered in many ways by the W.L. in the community as they sponsor 4-H, care of Senior Citizens and handicapped and the oversîght of many other community projects. We ex- press gratitude of, the fine coverage given W.L. work al over Ontario. Contributions for W.I. project was $21,635.00. During the election of Off- icers, Mrs. Herbert Maluske of Chesley, Grey-Bruce Area, was elected president. Mrs. Earl Morden, R.R. 1 Rodney was elected Secretary Trea- surer.
