4The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanvilie, March 12, 1975, PONTYPOOL Mr.Letty Caqtr has been visiting eaives in Niagara Falls during the past week We are glad to report that Benny Benfordis home from. hospital and seems to be progressing quite favorably - als MsHazel Fallis and Mrs. Mary Curtis. Mrs. Mary Szczygiel recentiy underwent surgery and is a patient'in Oshawa Generai Hospital. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Curtis who are proud grandparents once again. In spite of the severe snowstorm the Teen Dance iast Friday evening was well attended. Committee, in charge were Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Finney and George Van Dam. The card party that was to be held the same night in Ballyduff was cancelled. We understand that an Irish social evening is planned for Bally- duff Communîty Hall for this Saturday. Don't forget the St. Pat- rick's Dance in Pontypool on Saturday, March 15th. (See Coming Events) Approximately 45 ladies were in attendance at the World Day of Prayer service held in Pontypool United Church on Friday at 2 p.m., Congregations represented, in addition to our own, were Bethany Anglican, Bethany United and Ballyduff Presby- terian. Mrs. Jessie Fisk was leader with several ladies from ail churches taking part. The speaker, Mrs. Brow, was introduced by Mrs. Marion Wood and g ave a most interesting talk on hier chosen topic "Unity". Lunch and a social hour followed. Dean Joncas, Murray Fin- ney, Laverne Brown and Phil Nancekievill spent a day recently in Sudbury. Miss Denise Challice is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Donal Challice while hier parents are on vacation. The regular Chamber of Commerce meeting was heid on the first Tuesday in March with 25 ladies and gentlemen p resent. Plans are underway for the Annuai Street Fair which may be held'in the Pontypool Park this year if plans can be satisfactorily made. Mrs. Martin Dwyer bas been confined to home this week with bronchitis and Master Jimmy Dwyer has been at home also suffering from pneumonia. Congratulations to the two winners in the Public Speak- ing Finals at Grandview. They are, Sandra Stewart, Sr. and, Arden Coulter, Jr. Both spoke on the samne topic - "Commer- cials"'. Congratulations, too, to the runners-up, Stacey Higgins and David Sutch. Sandra and Arden competed in Lindsay on Friday night with Arden placing in the finals. Get-well wishes are extend- cd to Mrs. Kotyluk, of the village, who is presently ini hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Propp spent a few days this past week in Toronto, while Jîm was off work from G.M. Gary Akey bas gone to Deep River with the Ontario Hydro. He will be spending -several months there. Jim Beggs is almost finish- ed with bis training with Ontario Hydro in Deep River' and in April, Mr. and Mrs. Beggs and daughter, Crystal Lynne, wîll be moving to their new home in Port Elgin. Mrs. Dorothy Lethangue bas returned home from a Florida holiday. BURKETON Mrs. S. Tabb, Bowmanville was a Sunday supper guest of Mr. and Mrs . A. Swain and family. Mrs. K. Roblîn called on Mrs. J. Sinclair who is a patient in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanvîlle on Sunday. Mr. J. Cooper, Bowmianville visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. Swain during the week. Mrs. H. Osbourne, and HIeleneý, St. Catharines spent the weekend with Mrs. K. Roblin. stem and place the fiowers in warm water," he advises.
