This game was a repeat of their first encounter as both hockey clubs put forth some excellent hockey talent. The Toros opened the scor- ing in the f irsf period af 8: 14 as Scott Masters banged in a loose puck Iiay ing in the goal~ crease wtih th'? assist gol*ngto Bobby Canfield. It took Wifby jusf 35 seconds to corne back and tie the game 11. The second p eriod was scoreless as both clubs con- oôrists in Semi-Final tinued to forecheck and back- check feverishly. The defense and goaltending was certainiy at their best at ail times for the Toros. The third period was again anybody's game but Mary Browns were clipped for fwo penalties and Whitby's power pacxeei team tooR tis acivan- tage both times and scored twice to win their second game by a 3-1 decision.11 The Toros- travelied to Brooklin the next day for the third game in this series and were upset by a close margin 3-2. The game started with the Toros on the fiy but they couldn't count for a goal as they peppered the Wbitby gonitender who was realiy sharp in the firsf period. Bowmanviile came on just as strong and fast in the second period and as a resuit, Ray Cummings opened the scoring from Scott Masters af 1:39 in the second period on a gower play goal. Wbitby came ack at 3:57 to tie the score in me inai period, Wbîtby tied the score 2-2 on a power play goal af 1: 25. Sue Gribben 16, of Port Perry, top rigbt, won the over 145 pound division and the open weigbt titie. She bas recently won a number of tities, but most of them away from home. Among these titles is the U.S. women's crown. Miss Gribben represents the Wh itby Y and Kiichi Sai clubs and bas been competing for seven years. She bits tbe road next month for the Cpn-Am tournament at Buffalo,, a New Jersey competition, followed by action in Sports igtsElmnt Gananoque were defeated Sunday MVar. 9 by Bowman- ville Spor ts Midgets and thus eiiminated them from further OMWHA piay-offs. The game piayed at Bowmianvilie ended in a 6-3 victory for the home team. It was an exciting and tense game tbrougbout. Gananoque came witb the intention of proionging the series as fhey took an eariy 1-0 iead. Bowmanviile tied the score shortiy after wben Ted Puk siapped a bard sbot from the blue line. The puck went into the goalie's glove but bounced out over hlm into the net. John Hogarth assisted on the goal. Hogarth put the home team in front wben bis slap shot went past the goalie. John Conboy and Dan Cox assisted. The first period ended in a 2-1 score. Cox scored the oniy goni oof the second period on a back band shot wbicb fooled the goalie. Conboy and Jim Hut- ton assisted on this effort. Gananoque came out re- juvenafed in the fbird period and took advantage of Bow- manville mistakes and scored two quick goals t0 fie tbe score af 3-3. This ended the Ganan- oque scoring as Bowmanviile took command and scored tbree more times before fhe game ended. Puk scored fwice more f0 compiefe bis bat trick for the nighf. Duke Brunf assisted on botb of these goals. Wayde Preston opened the scoring for the Transporters on a blast from the blue line. One of tbe most sensational matches during the Ontario Senior Judo Cbampionsbips took place between these two girls in the lower picture. The girl on the lef t passed out while pinned by the otber girl, at une point during the match. Ted Trudeau played a fantasfic game in goal for Bowmanviiie coming up with many greaf saves which kept Bowmanville in the, game. Altbough-Gananoque did not xin any games in the series, tbey played, weli in every game.
