Mrs. Dykeman, opened the meeting with the singing of the Institute Ode followed by the Mary Stewart Colleet. The minutes of, the April meeting wýere read and adopted. The nw programs for 975-76 were given. out, thanks to Mrs. Dykeman and Mrs. Turansky for contributions of making them. The net proceeds from the Penny Sale on Apr. 26th was $31050. An invitation from Bow- manville W.I. to their 75th anniversary dinner on dune 5th in Trinity United Church was read. Four ladies express- ed their wishes to attend it. t was moved that Institute buy the book entitled 'The Wo- men's Instîtute Story', also that a. new book for the Tweedsmuir History' be bought. The program was in charge of the Family and Consumer Affairs Convenors, Mrs. Tur- ansky read an article entitled, 'How Safe is Our Food?' t showed how simple food poisoning can be found in certain foods left without refrigeration for a short period of time. SThe meeting losed with the singing of O Canada following a social haif hour enjoyed over lunch provided, by Mrs. Wybenga and Mrs. Dykeman. The June meeting is to be at the home of Mrs. J. Henderson on dune llth. Grades 5 and 6 and their teachers from Kendal sehool enjoyed aq bus trip to the Communciation and Science Centre in Toronto last Wed- nesday. Mrs. Jack Stapleton held, a Tupperware Party on Wednes- day evening with about a dozen ladies present. Mrs. Stapleton donated the prem- ium from the sales to the Women's Institute. t was a beautiful big table lamp which will be used at the next penny sale., Mr. and Mrs. Allen Foster returned home this past week from a holiday in Virginia and points south. visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Elliott and family s pcnt the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. C. Milis, in Moncton N.B. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Couroux hield a family gathering at ýieir cottage on Kushog Lake îVer the long weekend. There ,were aroun.,d forty guests present. The Kendal Womi-en's Insti- tute held a successful bake sale on Saturdayat the Kendal is Arts and Craft Shop on the 7th Line. The sale opened at il a.m. and everything was Wd out shortly after 2 p.m. 1hi-e tourists driving by who bought were pleased to learn this bake sale is, to be every Saturday. Kirby ladies will be selling next Saturday. Sorry to report Mrs. Pearl Clark has not been well and confined to her home for this past week or more. Dr. and Mrs. Norman McKenzie from Toronto spent the long weekend, at their cottage east of Kendal and Dr. McKenzie attended church on Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Elliott, North Delta B.C. visited on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. R. Elliott. Mrs., Norman Elgear re- turned home last week after spending three weeks in Toronto. On Sunday morning at Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Foster, Port Hope; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Fosterý and Mrs. W.H. Foster. The weather was Ï11 ?jfect and all enjoyed the fi.,aI outside on the spacious giounds. This weekend started the basebaîl season at Kendal Park. On Sunday, Kendal I{oyals played Oshawa and wvo. 6-3 and on Monday the i'iEagles played Lttle I3ý ;tain aiid finally broke the tie to win 5-4. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Foster of Oakridges, Tenn. had lunch on Tuesday with Mrs. W.H. Foster. Mrs. E. McTaggart and family of Toronto were at their summer home in Kendal over the xeekend.
