The town will receive $55,000 from the T yrone Community Hall Board, pu $30,000 in a provincialgrant. A spokes- man for the board told the town, that the old hall and property could be sold for an additional $ 10,000. Tenders have been. received by the town and tentative approval bas been given to one for $121,000. Counillors- expres- sed the. view that $135,000 would be the cost of the hall. Councillor Ivan Hobbs amended the bylaw to, read that Ontario Municipal Board approval would have to be obtained before construction began. He exDflained that he wanted it in the bylaw, although it was already man- datdry. Councillor Ken Lyall ex- pressed concern t hat the board could not meet the cost of paying back on the deben-., tures. He said that this was the second capital expenditure to go into the former Township of Darlington. (The DArlington Sports Centre). He amended the bylâw to read that the payment on debentures would1 be made by assessment levied against the residents of New- castle, less the amount paid by the Hall Board from its operations, and the Hall Board would enter into an agreement with the town to pay back on the debentures. Having made and voted in favor of bis amendment, he then asked for a recorded vote and voted against the bylaw as amended in its> second reading. The third reading of the bylaw was passed, with Councillor Lyall voting against it.
