Car Rolis Affer Colliding with Girl Cyclist on Courtice Roud On Monday, July 7, a 14-year-old Courtice area girl narrowly missed being killed when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a car on Courtice Road, N.; one haif mile south of Taunton Road. Accordîng t o Provincial Police at Newcastle, Shelly Lamnont, Varcoe's Road N., was riding south on, Courtice Road along the middle line when a car, driven by Daniel J. Coty, R.R. 3, Bowmanville, approached her from behind. At the same time another car travelling north came toward the girl. Both the southbound car and the girl swerved to the right and the Coty vehicle struck the bicycle with the lef t fender. The Coty vehicle th en went off to the shoulder where the car then rolled. The driver was not seriously injured. The girl received only cuts and bruises from the accident. The car, a 1972 Barracuda, had $2000 damage and was remnoved from the scene by Bob's Towing. Mut- ton, aged 831,(died oni Saturday, Julyv 5th, 1975, in Oshawa Genecral Hlospital, following a lengthy illness. Born and educated in Bow- manville he was the son of the late, John arnd Louise Mutttoni and ini October, 1921 wýas married to Ethel Smnith. A maintenance man with the Canadian National Rail- \vay he had been retired since Dece.mber, 19)54. After r efirin-g hie had been employ ed as janitor at the O.P.P. office in town for- five years. Mr. 'Mtton was a memiber of Trniity United Churchi. Leff f0 mourn his passing are his wife Ethel, daughters Ruth, Bernice (Mrs. Douglas Carter) Bowmanville, Marion (Mrs. Frank Parise) Whitby, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A son Fred, priedeceaised him. Reverend Amnacher officia- ted at the funeral service held Monday, at the Mor-ris Fun- eral Chapel. Paîl-bearers were Mýessrs. Groceries bias been sold. The new owners are Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Pingle who take over the business on Aug. 1sf. Pont ypool's Funfair and summnerfest is being held this weekend. Among the places visited were Wasaga Beach, Southampton and Kincardine. A thirfy-first wedding anni- versary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Masters was held af fhe Lions Centre in Peferbo(roug h last Friday night.
