On Boxing Day, two service calîs requiredth e service of firemen, the first at 2:51 p.m. at .57 Brown Street, the residence of Peter Barclay, due to a flooded oil furnace. No damage was sustained and the excess oil was burned off. Then at 4:05 p.m. firemen attended the Sunoco Self Serve Gas Bar on King Street East (opposite the IGA) where a broken air line had caused the compressor to continue run- Tebroken uine was discon- nected, allowing the compres- sor to build up pressure and shut off. On Sunday, at 2:30 p.m., seven homes on Hetherington Drive reported the odor of gas in basement areas. Fireman were unable to find the source of the odor which was tbought to he a gasoline odor rather than a natural gas odor. Two possible causes have been Iound since, one beîng a propane gas tank, found to have been leaking Monday morning as it was empty and should not have been for some time yet. Another is the possibility that a broken water main at the corner of Waverly Road and Strike Avenue may have allowed water to carry the odor down inito the basements. At any rate, the odor is now gone and no further problem is suspected. In Hungary at one time only a man *ho had siain a Turk rnight w êar a feather. Safe and easy ta use.
