Recreation Director Bud Fanning started the show by payingý tribute to the late AIfIIJ'Jake" Jakeman, for- mer M.C. and mouth organ artist, who passed away on December 28th, 1975. The tribute consisted of many kind words and old memories of the past. Everyone stood for one minute's silence - then the bouse band of Fay Adams and the Country Hits lended the trîbute by playing one of Jake's favorite songs, "Faded Love" . The show continued with some good old country tunes by the house band., The artîsts weewell reeîvýed - starting with Marlene Ogar a 15-yr.-ol fromn Markham who,,appears regularly, on the Saturday night Haylof t dance party.- Bill Luxton also did a very fine *ob on some Hank, Snow and Charlie Pride songs plus one of bis own, "The Ambu- lance Run." Irv. Miller from Newcastle was also well received when lie appeared on stage with his mandolin to sing several Blue Grass songs. He also played bass and sang one of Freddie Fender's latest bits. Reg. Post from Courtice pleased the crowd witb some fancy picking on bis 5-string banjo. H e also supplied some excellent back-up music for the entertainers. The two-hour show was rounded off with some tunes by the bouse band Fay, Glory, Don Adams, Len Somerscales and Joe Hawe. The lucky door prîze win- ners were: lst - Helen Lowe.
