The item should have read "Rev. Montgomery is retiring from the active ministry, as of dune 30th, " not resigning. However, we are stili sorry hie is leaving this charge. 1Mr. and Mrs. George Crump, of Bridgenorth, were Saturday evening dinner guests, with Mr. and Mrs. S. Lancaster, a week ago. Rev. and Mrs.. G. Montgom- ery visited Mrs. Leta Samis, in Port Hope Hospital, last Tuesday, and later, were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Hugli Stapleton. We are glad to hear that Mrs. Samis is progressing favorably. Wednesday was a special day. for at least two couples in this village, as Mr. and Mrs. Jim Adams, and Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Gilmer were both observing their Wedding An- niversaries. For the Adams' it was their 43rd, while for the "Old Folks, " it was their 54th. We were pleased to have as callers during ýthe day, Mrs. Lena Clysdalel Mr. and, Mrs. Phil Gilmer, Mrs. -Mary and Mrs. Bea Jones (includin2 an enjoyable session of Bridge) as well as several phone cails. Our thanks to ail who remem- bered us with nice cards, and good wishes, Mr. and ,Mrs. George Buck- ley, of Newcastle, were recent dinner guests, with Mr, and Mrs. S.J. Lancaster. Our Thursday afternoon meeting in the Library Room, at Newtonville School was en"joy d, as usual. Guest speaker was Miss Peggy Foster, of Kendall the former Editor of the Newcastle Re- porter, who was leaving, next day for North Bay, and hier new position. There, she will be Family Page Editor of the 'North Bay Nugget,"' a caily paper, with a circulation of over 22,000. 1We are sorry to lose hier, from this area, but enjoyed bier talk, and wished hier the best of luck in the North country. break, a short time was spent in playing Euchre, and -Crib- bgater which, a brief sing-song finished- off- the' af ternoon. Mrs. Ken Fletcher with Mrs. Richard MacCarl, of Whitby, lef t Thursday afternoon, to attend the funeral of Mr. Walter Lemmon, of Napanee. They were guests at the bouse of Mr. and Mrs. George Van Keoghnet, North «1 Napanee, and the funeral s&vice was beld at the Anglican Church, in Odessa. Mr. and Mrs. Trueman Hedroand Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson, were sùpper guests, S aturday, with Mr. and Mrs. Brian lVetcali in Bowmanville. Our Minister's Sunday morning, theme was "The Lord' s Payer" (Part,), and the choir sang "Lord of the Dance." Greeting us at the door were Mrs. Iva Farrowx, and Mr. Pat Gardner, handing outý the Bulletins. SRemember, next Sunday, our cburch will bc holding the, Annual Congregational meet- ing, right' after a Pot-Luck lunch, served at 12:30 p.m. in the Sunday School hall.
