Montgomnery were guests, Rev. Mont- gomery spoke on Sir Lord Baden Powell. The Orangemen held another successful dance in Kendal Hall on Saturday, evening Feb. 2lst. The music was supplied by the Couples' Club Orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster were in Ottawa to attend the Progressive Conservative Convention where Mr. Joe Clarke was elected the new leader of the Conservatives Party at the samne time Mrs. M. E. Foster, Sr. was staying with Mrs., W. H. Foster. The community was saddened by the sudden pass- ing of Mr. Thos.ý Gossen on Friday, Feb. 2th. Funeral mass was held Monday morn- ing in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Sympathy goes out to his wife, two daughters Charleen and Barbara and son John. Mrs. Julia Jackson has returned fromn a two week visit with her daughter Margaret and husband in Los Angeles, California. Ryan Foster, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Foster spent last weekend with his grandmother Mrs. -W. H. Foster. Mr. and Mrs. R. Elliott spejpt last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Elliott and family at Maple Leaf. Wednesday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Garland Cath- cart and Arthur Thompson were Mrs. Clair Traynor of Regina, Saskatchewan; Mrs. Lena Burwash of Cobourg; and Mr. Allen McLean from Belle River, Prince Edward Island. Mrs. Irene Dunbar of Peter- borough spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. R. Elliott. The February meeting of Kendal Women's Institute met on Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. J. Stapleton with eight'members present. The president Mrs. K. Dykeman opened the meeting by the singing of the Institute Ode and repeating the Mary Stew- art Collect. The minutes were read by Mrs. Wm. Turansky and approved. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Gossen. A food forum "Around the World Dining" held on March l8th, was announced. The Penny Sale was discussed, the tentative date is set for April 24th. Plans were made for making a quîlt for the penny sale. Tickets are to be sold on a beautiful tri-light table lamp also an afghan. The program was in charge of the Family and Consumér Affairs Committee. The roll caîl was answered by telling something of the 'Good old times'. Mrs. Turan- sky's topic for the evening was "Tips for Shopping," giving us many good ideas for thrifty shopping. A tasty lunch was provided by Mrs. J. Hender- son and our hostess Mrs. Stapleton. The March meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs Wmn. Turansky. Kendal Brownie Mothers held a bazaar and bake sale on Thursday afternoon in Kendal Sunday School room. Tea, coffee and refreshments were served to ail attending. The Brownies are under the leadership. of Mrs. Geo. MacDonald and Mrs. G. Langstaff .
