4 The Canadian Statesman, Bowrnanville, March 24, 1976 OBITUARIES JOHN ALBERT FRY A self -employed uphoisterer for 40 years, and a highly respected citizen, John Albert Fry, aged 78, passed away, Monday, March lst, 1976, in Dr. J.O. Ruddy General Hos- pital, Whtby, following a brief illness. He had been retired three years. Born and educated in New- port, England, he was the son of John Albert and Eliza Jane Fry. On November 6th, 1926 he married Elsie Blanche John-I son, residing in Oshawa fromt h 1926-28, and at 117 Scugog Street from 1928 until the present time. Mr. Fry served in the lst World War from 1915-1918 as an Artillery Gunner in Italy and France, Reg, H. No. 164856, and in the second World War as a Veteran Guard for Canada at Petewa- wa and Montreal. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Elsie, a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Jim Levett, Whitby, two sons, Edward of Pickering, Ralph of Bowman- ville, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Reverend Thomas Gracie officiated at the funeral ser- vice held Wednesday at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral ALPIE HW Home. ALPIE HW Palîbearers were Messrs. Reg. Meadows, Ken Nichols, Leland Bail, Herman Haass, Larry and Randy Levett. Floral tokens were received from Du Pont of Canada, Ajax; St. Marys Cernent; United Steel Worker's of America, Local 12219; and Interment was in Bowman- S E ville Cemetery. 1[ . . ! MELVIN REYNOLDS GRAHAM A resident of Newcastle and area most of bis life, Melvin Reynolds Graham, died in Oshawa General Hospital, on, Sunday, March 7th, 1976, after an illness of approximately one and a haif years. He was lu bis 74th year. The son of the late Robert and Louisa (Reynolds) Gra- ham, he was born in Oshawa and educated in Browni's School, Newcastle. A bachelor, he had retired from farming three or four years ago. He had resided' in Oshawa about two years. Mr. Graham was a member of S t. George's Church, New- castle, and a member of Kendal Orange Lodge, the Newcastle Masonic Lodge, and the Tyrone RBB-398. Surviving are his sisters, Marjorie (Mrs. Russel McNeil), Oshawa, Aileen (Mrs. Clarence Turner), Bowmianville, one nephew and a niece. The funeral service was held on Tuesday at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Homne. Reverend Thomas Smith officiated. Palîbearers were Messrs. Sam, Ch ris and John Turner, Robert Stevenson, Lawrence and Robert Milîson. Interment was in Bowman- ville Cemetery. REGINALD J. FAIR A former employee of Gen- eral Motors, of Canada in the final conditioning department, who retired in 1964 with 57 years' service, Reginald J. Fair died at Oshawa General Hospital, Sunday, March 21, 1976, following a six-week illness. He lived at 242 Eulalie Ave., Oshawa. Born in Oshawa, Aug. 6, 1895, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Fair. He was a member of St. Gregory's Roman Catholic Church, was a member of the Royal, Canadian »Légion Branch 43, and was a member of the Oshawa Curling Club. He was an umpire in the Central' Ontario Basebal League. He was active in sports in Oshawa for many years. He served overseas with the Canadian Army during the First World War. He.was married twice. His firstwife, Amy L. Trenouth, died March 2, 1974. He is survived by his second wife, the former Jean Stinson; a son, James, of Bowman- ville; five daugliters, Mrs. Douglas Larkin (Dorothy), of R.R. 1, Hampton; Mrs. Robert Mlntyre (Audrey), of Osh- awa; Mrs. John Meisenheimer_ (Evelyn), of Ottawa; Mrs. Fred Smith (Marilyn); Mrs. Paul Harris (Donna), both of Oshawa; two sisters, Mrs. Daniel MacDonald (Virginia); Mrs. William O'Brien (Edna); both of Oshawa; a brother, Joseph, of Oshawa; 22 grand- children, and il great-grand- children. A son, William Fair, died before him. Mr. Fair rested at the Mclntosh-Anderson Funeral Home. Requiem Mass cele- brated in St. Gregory's Church Wednesday with interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Parish prayers were recited at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations to the Crippled Children's- Society would be gratefully acknow- ledgèd. Feeling istless? Out of sorts?
