By this time we had relieved don Rowe and had George Kennett between the pipes. The Husk- ies threw everything but the kitchen sink at George but in bis usual cool manner, he chucked everything aside to Cullen opened the scoring with assists to Brian Ruddy and Steve Cary. Oshawa tied up the score midway through the second period but with three minutes remaining, Ed Osborne drilled one in from the point to give the Toros the win. This was a tough, close checking game which saw Ken Woodward play an outstand- ing game in goal. On Saturday, the Toros faced Ajax and by the end of the first period trailed 2-1. The Toros rebounded for three unanswered goals in the final two periods for a 4-2 win. Goal scorers in this game were Rick Erwin, Joe Niilîl, Rob Siggins and Barry Cullen. This was a chippy game but the Toros kept. their cool. Several foolish penalties late in the game by the Ajax club hurt their chances of a comeback. The Toros again received fine goal tending, this time fror.i Steve Skene. On Sunday, April 18 the Toros defeated Peterborough by a score of .4-1 to win the championship. Playing against a powerful Hamilton Huskie team, winning looked like an unsurmountable, task; es- pecially during the first few minutes when Hamilton bom- barded don Rowe with shot after shot. dons golatending was superb, standing bis team mates in good stead. This gave the b oys a big lift and resulted in day Sweet digging and winning posses- sion of the puck in the Toro corner and feeding it across to Glenn Owens and Glenn in turn feeding it to Chuck Nash with a beautiful pass as they went charging up the ice into the Hamilton end. Chuck slid the puck to Waý ne Mutton and before' the Hamilton goalie could move, Wayne fired it in the net. The Toros went wild. With many minutes left to play, the Hamilton team did not ]et un but many good defensive moves by Scott Heard and Chris Michelson rendered them most ineffective. Greg Smith played a very strong game against much bigger opponents and did not back down an inch. deff dacques continually tied up bis man ln the corners and Darrin Knight Sodhi 44, Hancock 31, Cath Connelly 30, Lugtenburg 27, Murray 13.
