John ilamilton and Social Worker Mary Attersley were two of the 34 guest speakers invited to Bowmanville High School's Careers Week recently. Students attend- ing the seminars learned, among other things, tha t not every policeman on the force is like Barretta -- in fact, barking dogs and domestic quarrels prompt far more calis than! drug raids or homicides. Ms. Atterley cautionied potential social workers that they couldn't expect to help everyone with ail of their problems. H AYDO0N (Intended for Last Week) Club 21 met at the Commu- nity Centre April l2th, Group 1 in charge, Rena Potts, took the chair. We opened with al singing the first verse and chorus of, "The Old Rugged Cross." Rena read a poem, "Hello Tulips" and after the chorus was replayed, Rena read an ev-ening prayer. Norma Blackburn read a poem for "Good Friday." Secretary's report was read and approved and several cards were read and oral thanks were accepted and our annual box of, candy was enjoyed. Treasurer gave a good report. It was moved by Blanche Jones and seconded by Norma Blackburn to cater to the Obsen supper, at the Centre on June 6th. Everyone was reminded of the Club's Bowling Night April 17th. Gladys Potto moved that the ladies seli lunch at Ray Degeer's Sale. Seconded by Mrs. K. Buttery. Rena Potts turned the remainder of the evening over to Gail Cameron, who had a Copper Craft Demonstration. She had many lovely things that you could order. Group 1 served lunch. Miss Francis Potts, Mrs. Alice Perryman, Collingwood, Miss Mary Potts, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Deb Potts, Cornwall, were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. J. Potts and Bill. Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Hobbs, Enniskillen, called on Mrs. Leslie Graham Sunday even- ing. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kinsman and Robyn, Enniskillen, call- ed on the Lloyd Ashton family. Mr. ànd Mrs. Wayne Black- burn and family, Orono, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn and Wendy, Enniskillen, were Sun- day supper guests. of the Wilbur Blackburn family on Easter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jones and baby, Port Coîborne, had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs., J. Jones, Tom and Sandy. Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and family, Bowmanville, Mrs. Meta Kellar, Miss Cora Degeer, were Sunday supper guests with the J. Jones family. Mrs. Charlie Garrard, Beau Villa Nursing Home, was supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Garrard, Barry and Lori on Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday dinner gues ts with the J. Potts were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Trewin, and Paul, Mrs. Mildred An- derson, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Potts, Mrs. Meta Read, Mr. and Mrs. Deb Potts, Miss Francis Potts, Miss Mary Potts, Mrs. Alice Perryman. Mrs. Lloyd Ashton, Mr. Ronald Ashton visited Mrs. John Brown, and Miss Marion Brown, Orono. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Paterson called on Mr. and Mrs. Miltoni Paterson, Maple Grove, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ashton enjoyed the Trentway Tour to N.Y. and saw the Easter parade on 5th Ave. Easter guests with the Ted Buttery family were Mr. and Mrs. D. Yeo and family, Mrs. Tom Buttery, Mrs. John Sim, Mrs. John Anderson and Janet, Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Buttery attended the Shorthorn ban- quet at Blackstock on Wednes- day where Mr. Buttery re- ceived a prize for being a niew breeder of Durham County Shorthorn Club. A small group enjoyed the bowling Saturday night spon- sored by Club 21. A large crowd attended Ray Degeer's sale on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Potts, Charlene and Christopher have moved into their new house. Sympathy is extended to the famiiy and relatives of the late Mrs. W. Martin who passed away at Hillsdale Manor, Oshawa, on Thursday. Haydon Community was saddened to hear of the death of the late Donald Mountjoy. Donald was raised where Mr. and Mrs. Ron Trent live.
