April 28, 1976 Nestieton Nestieton - United Chureh Women On Tuesday evening Mrs. Victor Malcolm was hostess for Nestieton United Church Women, when a splendid number of members and visîtors were present. Following the theme hymn and the Lord's Prayer Mrs. Malcolm, the president, wel- comed the ladies and read a poem "Sunshine and Music". Mrs. Arnold Williams, Unit Leader, and Mrs. C. Thomson were in charge of the Devo- tional. Scripture John 20 was read by Mrs. Thomson. Mrs. Williams read "Christ is Alive". On Easter morning sorrow became joy; the Di- vine purpose was proven by the Resurrection. Through Jesus' supreme sacrifice bates and jealousies should be forgotten and the window of the soul is revealed. The hymn "The Glory of the Cross" was sung and prayer concluded this part of the meeting. Minutes of the March meet- ing and correspondence were read by the secretary, Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm and fina nces were' reported. The social committee will be in charge of final details re the spring supper. It was decided to purchase ten dozen plates with pictures of the church. These will be sold to those interested. Four ladies sub- mitted tbeir names for mem- bersliip. Mrs. Ralph Sadler, leader of the Study topic read tbe Scripture passage John 20:1- 10. Verse one of "Take My Lif&' was sung. Mrs. Sadler then introduced the Easter message "The Challenge of the Cross". This consisted of a leader and six disciples who wisbed to served the Master but refused to bear the Cross. The first disciple did not wisb to give up worldly pleasures. Verse 2 of "Take My Life" was sung. The second disciple wished to pick a ligbt cross but would not take the heavier one. All joined in singing verse 3 of -Take My Life". The third disciple wished to worship the cross and display its beauty For this she failed to qualify as a follower of Jesus. The fourth disciple takes the cross but hides it as she did not wish the public to know of bier action. Disciple five was confident but important with self-glory, con- ceit and pride. Tbe cross is not a ladder of self-glory. The sixth disciple is humble and *accepts the heavy cross but puts il aside. She later takes it, kneels with it in a attitude of prayer. 0f the six disciples tbis last was the only one to accept tbe responsibilities required of a true follower of Jesus.
