OUTDOOR - educ -ation is a possibility at the Cold Springs Camp, which was formerly oper- ated by the ministry of correctional services. Buit in 1961 it was used by the Bowmanville Pine Ridge School. Situated on about 30,000 acres of Ganaraska Forest, the region is in- vestigatlng setting up an outdoor education centre there. The Bowmanville Minor Hockey Association bas made wearing protective face masks on the ice mandatory for their hockey players between the ages of seven and 17, BMHA president Keith Shackelton announced on Monday. The new regulation callîng for face masks as well as helmets already worn by their players came after tbeir members voted -in favor of it at the BMHA annual meeting on Sunday. In addition to making facial masks and helmets * mand- atory, the association bas recommended the use of oral mouth guards to protect their players from severe injuries, 'Mr. Shackelton said. The association wbich bas come out ahead financially this year will usp some of tbeir excess funds to buy safety approved helmets, he added. Although the association bàs done wel] financially this year, he said they would continue their fund raising campaigns in the coming hockey season.
