Enniskillen News A gorgeous Sun. morning plus Family Sun. plus Bap- tisms all contributed to the capacity filled Sanctuary for the combined service of Church and Sun. School. A former local son as guest minister was another attrac- tion. It seems to prove emphatically four facts: first, we are fair weather christ- ians, second, families that pray together stay together, third, a little child shall lead them, fourth, a prophet does have honour in his native land. The traditional Mother's Day baskets of flowers enhanced the beauty of the Sanctuary. Ray Ashton at the organ with his choir of 14 voices provided a delightful musical message in the Anthem, "Our Hymn of Praise, We Thank Thee, Lord" all looking pleasant and adorned with corsages to honour "Mother". Our Minis- ter led in the Order of Service, ushers were Keith McGill and Allan Werry. The Responsive Reading was a Litany prayer of thanks led by Allan Ashton from the bass section of the choir alcove. Rev. Bigby, in the Baptism Ceremony, ac- cepted the vows of the parents and both ministers took part in the Baptisms from the font prepared by Elder Keith McGill. Our guest minister, Rev. Ted Kersey, baptised wee Paul Douglas Ashton, infant son of Grethe and Douglas Ashton, who is also a great nephew of Rev. Ted Kersey. Our Minister baptised wee Ryan James MacKenzie, infant sen of Agnes and James MacKenzie. Supporting the 4 young parents as they made their vows were Elders Marg- aret Stainton, Jessie Slemon, Ross Ashton, Keith McGill, Allan Werry, Keith Ferguson. Jr. Church little folks occu- pied the 2 front pews to observe this ceremony. In his story to the Children and Youth Rev. Kersey referred to a beautiful hand beaded Cross he was wearing which was a gift presented to him by a young native boy of a Reserve in Bruce Penninsula when he was guest minister there for a Confirmation Ceremony. He advised his young listeners to follow in Mother's footsteps to fulfil her dream and show appreciation for her sacrifices and to truly "Honour our Mother and Father." Rev. Kersey chose as titie for his sermon, "House or Homes" and introduced it by saying he intended to avoid the custom- ary reminiscings with one exception, to express grati- tude to a former teacher of his in Enniskillen Continuation School, Mr. M.J. Hobbs, who was in the congregation. He stated that our success is largely due to a key person "Mother" but we must also include others who contribute too i.e. the family (a propos to Baptisms), parents, congre- gation. He regretted that in the yesterdays it was a Home but today it is a Hotel where family members meet as they come and go. Quoting from the lines of 2 poets he said "A home cannot be bought etc" and "It takes a heap of living to make a house a home". In conclusion he spoke of "Love" as giving and referred to the familiar chapter, I Corinthi- ans 13. He stressed all, esoecially the Youth, to follow MAKES YOUR CAR SHINE AGAIN, PROUD AGAIN.
