OnDump Complaint The latest chapter in the garbage dumping controversy between Ian Tyson and Walter John Hale has been wrîtten by the Durham Region works committee. The committee has decided to take no action on Mr. Tyson's complaint. Instead, the complaint will be referred to the Region's officiai plan process, works committee chairman Carl Puterbough said. Mr. Puterbough also stated .. that closing down the dump would not be within the jurisdiction of his committee. Mr. Tyson's lawyer, John, Swaigern, said in a letter to council, that the garbage dump adjoining Mr. Tyson's 100 acre farm in the former township of Clarke is inter- fering with the folksinger's enjoyment of his property. Canadian Posteuriz' Books for *. Scugog <ý grant of $2000 wiil help the Scugog Township' Public Library buy Canadian books and periodicals. The grant was mnade available throug Wintario funds. The money for Seugog was one of seven Wintario grants to projects in the Durham ~ Region announced, by the Ministry of Culture and Rec- reation Friday. Also announced by the minîstry was a grant of $5,150 to help finance "The New- castle Gaine."
