The Danish exchange student showed slides of the Scandinavian countries where Gary Combes, a BHS student sponsored by the Bowmanville Rotary Club will visit when he leaves for Denmark this summer. Hale - Granit Weddingr St. Paul's United Church, Bowmanville, was the scene of a lovely spring wedding, on Saturday, May lst, 1976, when Carolyn Lorraine Grant be- came the bride of James William Hale. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Grant of BoWmanville and the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hall of Newcastle. Reverend E. Scbamerhorn officiated. The bride, given in mar- niage by her father,,wore a formai gown of silk organza with quipure lace and seed pearîs. A band of orange blossoms held an Illusion veil and she carried a bouquet of red roses and white car- nations. The maid of honor, Miss Donna Munday wore a formal gown of green polyester and the bridesmaids, Miss Rhonda Johnson, the bride's cousin and Mrs. Terry Stark, the groomn's sister wore formal gowns of mauve polyester. Wearing all white hats, they carried baskets of spring flowers. The groom and the best man, Mr. Paul Desmit and the ushers, Mr. Richard Grant, the bride's brother, Mn. Wayne Langstaffe and Mr. Terry Stark, the groom's brother-in-law, all wore brown tuxedoes. The reception was held at the Centennial Hall, where the bride's mothen received the guests in a coral polyester gown and corsage of ivory roses and carnations. The groom's mother assisted in receiving in a yellow flowered gown with a corsage of yellow carnations. The bride wore a going away outfit of a blue pant suit, with tan accessories. Mn. and Mrs. Hale are now residing in Newtonv<ille. After f ive years of studying English in Denmark's school system, there was no languge barnier for the student who bneezedthrough bis presenta- tion as il the toreign language was bis mother tongue. He pointed out that many Canadians have the misunden- standing that' the Scandi- navian countryside is rugged and made up entincly of mn<untains.» Butvisitors will find that the east side of the Scandinavian peninsula is "calm country- side"~, he said.
