S ummer During the months of July and August, al of the town's councîl meetings will likely be held in the courtroom of Bowmanville's police building if the room is available. At the moment, the meet- ings are split between Bow- manville and Newcastle. The first meeting of the month is in Bowmanville, the second one is at the Newcastle town hall. The councillors will be meeting in the, courtroom because the courtroom is cooler and less noisy than the Newcastle village hall on a'hot summer day with its windows open. The councillors may decide to skip one of their summer meetings and take a h oliday, but that bas flot been decided yet. Council meetings take place the first and third Monday of, the mont.h. On the - first Monday, they begin at 7:30 p.m.; on the third Monday, they start at one o'clock in the afternoon. STRAWBERRY PICKÉRS The strawberry season is at its peak right now and the pick your own places are jammed. On Tuesday even- ing, there must have been several hundred people at work at Watson's, Maple Grove, gathering up the delicl,;ous bernies for dessert or- preserving.
