$2,OOO Wintario Grant Toward Films for, Library The Bowmanville Public Library has received notice that the Minîstry of Culture and Recreation is giving a $2,000 Wintario grant toward a new film service program at the library. Chief librarian Diane Dineen said the library was interested in buying 16 Can- adian films to join a film pool shared by six other libraries in the Region of Durham. The library budget would have been eut to allow for $2,000 in film, the minimum amount of film recommended by the libraries in the regional, program, Ms. Dineen said. But the grant authorized by the Minister of Culture and Recreation Robert Welch will mean the library can carry on within the present budget and stîll buy the films, she said. The public will have free use of the films but will have to pay a $3 service charge for a library projector, she said. The films include one about the group of seven paintings showing where they were painted called "This Vibrant Land"~, "The Rise and Faîl of the Great Lakes'", "Dracula"' and instruction films such as "Basic Canoe Paddling Tech- niques" and "Weaving With Looms You Can Make'". For those who are interested in learning to run a projector, the library has a course on 16 m.m. projectors. The library expects the films to arrive sometime in September.
