Ail enjoyed a tour of their beautiful home, and grounds, includîng in thE former, the lovely gifts re ceived, recently, during their 5th Wedding Anniversary celebration. Incidentally, the Institute also remembered that occasion, with the gift ofa Golden Annîversary Plate, as a symbol of appreciation for their hospitality, presented b; Miss Bernice Milligan. Sev- eral contests were held, the winners being Queenie Fletch- er, Bea Jones and Gertie Rowe. A bountiful lunch was enjoyed by ail. A lovely card was read and passed around from Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley, on a holiday trip to the United States. Guitar music by Mr. and Mrs. Virtue, was a pleasant ending to thi: happy occasion. Sorry to hear Mr. Wm. Reid of Kirby is a patient in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Elizabeth Oakley witl daughters, Heather and Laura. and son, Graham of Nova Scotia were visitors this past week with Mr. and Mrs. S . Shetlen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Staple- ton and family were away the past week, across the border, in Missouri. We are Iooking forward to the anrival of our new Minis- ter, Rev. A. Tizzand, his wife and son, Mark, at the Manse, this week. He will be taking charge of the service here, next Sunday, at the usual time of 9:45 arn. Induction service is to be helci at Kendal on Sept. 8, we understand. Davy and Gary Frost of Oshawa have been visîting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. DeSmit, the past week, and on Sunday were joined by their parents and Mrs. Ingrid Fowler, and her family. This was a birthday celebration for Mr. DeSmit and one of the grandsons, so congratulations and best wishes! Mrs. Mary Wade of Barrie spent the weekend here with Mrs. Leone Lane and Mn. and Mrs. Charles Gray and girls of Orono were Friday visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Spratt -ccompanied by thein house- ~uests, from Ireland, Misses 'A. Lewis and M. McLean, spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Gilmer and family at their cottage at Lake Chemong. On Friday, Mrs. Mary Jones, Mrs. Bea Jones and Mrs. W. Gibby wene guests of Mrs. Jack Gloven at ;a luncheon at R.S. McLaugh- 'n's Tea House, in Oshawa. ~ater in, the afternobn, Bridge was enjoyed at the Glover home, on Bessborough Cres. Mr. and Mrs. George IÇm- bail of Newcastle were Wed- nesday afternoon visitors with Mr. and Mrs. F. Gilmer and on Friday, Mns Lena Graham, Newcastle, with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Graham and Jessica of Rothesay, New Brunswick, were visitons with the Gil- mers. Mrs. Emily Ogden left Memoial' Hospital over the weekend to visither daughter, Mrs. Marion Raby, in Oshawa and enjoyed a drive around the areas she had lived in, in earlier years. Mn. and Mrs. Anthony Ton were visiting friends in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for several days, last week.- x,_,n were in Toronto, Sunday, where they visîted the new C. N. Tower. Mrs. Doris Chrysler and her three boys spent Monday with her'sister, Mrs. Ross Good- ianat Pontypool. Miss Carol Henderson spent the weekend with college friends in Iingston. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Boughen with Mrs. Bea Jones and Mrs. and Mrs. M. Jones attended churcfr in Oshawa, Sunday morning, and had lunch with Mr. and Mrs. L. Savery. Clips, Mo andSam O'Heann of Tononto joined the Pollards on the fourth concession of Hope Township for a "straw- benry social" on Sunday afternoon. They toured the Hope-Clarke -countryside and were favourably impressed.
