The driver of the van, Robert Meade, of R. R. 2, Orono, suffered minor in- juries. Miss Lowery was crowned Miss Durham Central Fair in 19741. She is the daughter tf Mr. and Mrs. James Lowery, of R. R. 1, Orono. Wavferley Conf usion Corrected Information provided by the Bowmranv ille Chamber of Commerce has helped to clear up the confusion over the correct way of spelling the name of a street in Bowman- ville.- 1 A report submitted 'to the Newcastle council at -an August 3rd meeting showed that a subdivision in the town which was named after "Wa-' verley Rd." was first incor- rectly spelle-i bya déveloper in 1969.>r The background informa- ti on traces the spelling back to the second page of a book published in 1906 by J. B. Fairbairn called "History and Reriniscences of Bow- manz-ville", which makes reference to the "Waverley Stock Farm". In 1969 however, the report points out, a developer mis- spelled the name "Waverley", drsopping, the "e" from the last syllable to make it "W;aver- ly" The council voted to have any incorrectly spelled road, signs chaniged to the tradi- tional spelling, "Waverley".
