Mrs. Iva Farrow, Miss Bernice Milligan and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher were among the busload of Senior Citizens (49 in all) who travelled north, last Tuesday morning. Stopping at the Oastler Provincial Park for a 1 ei enie lunch, they drove on to 1 Parry Sound, where they boarded,-the "Island Queen" pleasure boat for a three hour scenic trip through Georgian Bay, returning by way of the North Channel. Homeward bound, they stopped for a "Smorgasborg" at the Kitch- ener - Mètor Hotel, in Parry Sound, the came the rest of the way, %njoying a jolly sing-song, led by Rev. T. Smith of Newcastle, en route. Glad to hear Mr. Les. Peck is able to be home again after having spent several days, last week, in Port Hope and District Hospital. Mrs. Leone Lane, accom- panied by Mrs. Gloria Gray and girls', of Orono, drove out to Hawkeston, on Lake Sim- coe, last Tuesday, where they were overnight visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weekes. Mrs. Harold Hogg, Mrs. Vera Fuller and Mr. Bill Bennet of Minden spent Thurs- day at the Milligans. Mrs. Lottie Long of Mel- bourne, Florida, up here on a two weeks' holiday trip, ac- companied Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher to Napanee recently where all enjoyed the reunion of old friends, with Mrs. -Marion Lemmon. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Webster of Oshawa were recent visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elliott and Mrs. Elliott visited ' Mrs. Gertie Stapleton, in Bowmanville, last Wednesday af ternoon. Visitors during the past week with Mrs. Agnes Burley included Mr. and Mrs. Earl MeEwen, Misses Mary Fae Gilmer and Margaret McFar- lane, all of Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Baker and children have returned from a two weeks' holiday in North- ern Ontario. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher whQse Fifty-Fourth Wedding Anni- versary was observed last Thursday. Phone calls were received from family mem- bers and friends unable to be present and visitors included Dr. Fred Riding of Chicago and Mrs. Minnie Drinkleý of Oshawa, Mr. Don Fletcher and friend, Mr., and Mrs. Howard Smith and Stevie, all of -Oshawa. Our U.C.W. are invited to Kendal Wed., Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hender- son and Carol were among those attending the Saturday, night play, at the Newcastle Marina. Mrs. Emily Ogden visited her, daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Clarke and family, Port Hope, over the past weekend. Sever- al other members of the family came there to sée her, inelucling ten grcat grand- children and pictures were taken of the four generations. -Mr. and Mrs. T. Henderson were Saturday night visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Sid Brown. Miss Judy Brown left Mon- day morning to fly back to Banff, after, her two weeks' holiday here with her parents. Miss Bernice Milligan was at our church door Sunday morning greeting the mem- bers of the congregation Ind Rev. Tizzard's sermon was entitled, "Building On Solid Ground," leaving us, as usual, with something worth while to remember. At the close of the service one young lady was heard remarking that, as the men seem to feel free to, leave off their ties and formal attire, when the weather is so warm, why wouldn't it be a good idea to suggest that we all come to church wearing our 4athing suits? I promised to mention this idea in the.news as I feel sure if this were to happen, we'd have a church f illed to capacity! The meeting of the Official Board is being held to-night (Monday) in Shiloh Church. The Induction Service for Rey.,A. Tizzard is to be held in Kendal Church on Wed., Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. Sympathy is expressed to her relatives, in the passing of Mrs. Inez Todd, formerly of Shiloh, whose funeral was ,held Tuesday from. the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowman- ville. Mrs. Mary Wade and Mrs. Marion Fluvian of Barrie were weekend visitors with Mrs. Leone Lané and all called on Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lane, Port Hope, on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Clint Brown of Newcastle and Mr.'and Mrs. Frank 'Gilmer were supper guestà, Sunday, with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gilmer and familv. Improved health is wished for Mrs. M. Bailey of Port Perry (formerly of Burketon) who is a patient in Oshawa Gýeneral Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Howe and family, Northern Ontario, are visiting with Mr. P. Gatchell. Mr. Lance Plane, Orono, called on Mr. J. Sinclair and family on Friday. Hearty congratulations to Miss Susan Smith and Miss Lynda Dean on their recent marriages on Saturday. Best of luck girls- Several people in the village held house parties in the village. Some enjoýed a hay ride with two tractors drawing the wagon. A lovely , wagon ride was enjoyed. YELVERTOJN Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mal- colm returned home on Friday from a pleasant two weeks holiday in Holland. They also called on and were entertain- ed by Mr. and Mrs. John Bakker and Peter of Ymuida. , On Sundây, Yelverton's Men split a double header with Oshawa Towers - the first game went to Oshawa in two extra innings to break a 3-3 tie and the second game to Yelverton in a 13-0 game. Dale Stinson had 13 strikeouts in the second game; Terry' Malcolm hàd 4 runs in the second game and Fred Tanner scored 3 runs. Terry Malcolm had the best batting average of the day with 7 hits for 10 times at bat. ' Mr. and Mrs. Clare Robin- son entertained Laurie's little niece thîs past week returning home on Sunday to Plattsvillé. Mrs. Terry Malcolm, Todd and Terra are scheduled to spend a few days with her parents at a cottage on Georgian Bay area this week.
