They wore floor-length gowns of floral eyelet over pink and green lining with matching short-brimmed bats. They carried white wicker baskets of pink carnations, white daisies and blue strawflowers. Mr. Don Swain of Black- stock acted as best man, and the ushers were Mr. Grant Slute of Oshawa, brother of the groom, Mr. Gord Bray of Oshawa and Mr. Rob Mairs of Blackstock, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony, the wedding party and guests were invited to the new home of the bride's parents. For the reception, -held at the Nestleton Community Centre, the bride's mother received wearing a formai floral gown of cotton sateen. The groom's mother assisted wearing a formal mint-green, gown with cape sleeves. Both rnothers wore corsages of yellow roses. For her going-away outfit, the bride wore a yellow and navy pantsuit with matching hat and -a white gardenia corsage. The Mountjoy family held their annual reunion on Sun- day and due to weather conditions enjoyed their picnic in the town hall. The Blackstock U.C.W. booth was a great success at the Blackstock Fair. Miss Vera Forder is spend- ing a week with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Wan- nan, St. Catharines, are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Mountjoy. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaugh- lin hosted a get-together on Sunday with about 35 mem- bers of the Murphy famfily in' honor of Mr. and Mrs. Garry Murphy (nee Susan Dormer) of London England, and pre- sented the young couple with many useful gifts. A surprise party was held for Mrs. Walter Lawrence by ber family and relations in honor of Muriel's birthday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lawrence and family, Newtonville, on Saturday. There were 54 guests to wish her the best and her husband gave ber a lovely orchid, and she received several beautiful gifts. There was a lovely dinner and a big cake which they ail sang Happy Birthday as she cut it. The guests came from Port Perry, Toronto, Rexdale, South River, Ajax, Newcastle, Oshawa, Missis- sauga, and Islington. Congratulations to Karen Dow who was awarded first prize in the Ladies' Lead Class with ber lamb, at Ottawa Exhibition last week. One of the requirements for this class was an all-wool costume. Karen's -outfit was a full length, 'light blue, al-wool jumper, worn over a beige blouse and ber matching head scarf completed ber en- semble. Besides a nîce cash prize, Karen received the honour of representing Eastern Ontario at the Royal Winter Fair this Fal. % years gone by and ended up with a sing song and corn roast. He placed in the first group of juniors with his steer and was in the' second group for showmanship. We are pleased to report that Everett Wood was one of the winners at the "'Old Time Fiddlers' Contest in Tweed recently. A group of about 25 BHS Band'members and parents attended the Band Concert last Monday evening in Osha- wa when the visiting Mil- waukee , ontinentals per- tormed. The Bowmanville group was invited to meet these young musicians and to socialize with them at a corn roast out at Camp Samac where the Milwaukee group was staying enroute to the, C.N.E. The B.H.S. Band is also invited to hear the Oxford Band from England when they play at the Bandshell on Sept 6th. These invitations were extended to our band because of the fine reputation they have earrîed through their recent successful trips to the U1nited States.
