Heavy rainshowers lateo. in the afternoon interrupted the events for a brief period of time, cooing down the hot, humid temperatures and allowing CFRB's Bill Deegan an extra tew minutes to plot his strategy in the hand milking contest. Alas, as the results show, Mr. Deegan talks a littie fastel7 than he milks. The Tractor Pull drew large crowds at the south end of the fairgrounds, and the winners this popular new event were ý-,inted in last week's edition of the Statesman. The following are complete results of ahl other Blackstock Fair events. The Flap-Jack Flipping Contest in the Recreation Centre created much interest. The ladies' winner was Gail Shaver and the men's winner Colin Asseistine. Later in, the day, Cliff Pethick auctioned off the Champion Market steer for 53 cents a lb. to Arnott Wotterr and Keith Goble on behaîf of the U.C.O. The market steer was owned by E. L. McLaugh- lin. Cliff Pethick also acted as the M.C. for the Milking Contest, which was proved to be as much fun as ever. Winner was Bill Newman, with Allan LaWrence in second spot, Bill Deegan third and Billy the Clown in fourth staîl. After such a successful day, it was not surprising that the Fair ended up in grand style with two very fine dances - in the Recreation Centre many enjoyed the fine music of Earl Brown of Oslawa anid the Arena rang out wîth the sounds of Rampage. The Ministry of Labour represen- tatives should have been there - our arena surely could be deemed safe after withstand- ing these sounds of modemn music. In ,ail respects, the lu1th Blackstock Fair goes down into history as one of the very best. 1 BLACKSTOCK FAIR .WINNERS Heavy Horses Percheron Team - lst and 2nd - Don Robertson, R.R. 4 Lindsay; 3rd - C.
