Two of our newer bowlers Dallas Manuel and Gail DeVries were in their first tournament ever, did Fees for Fees for recreation hockey in the Town of Newcastle have been set at $18 this year. But that figure could change if the Newcastle and Orono arenas remain open. The $18 fee was based on the belief that both buildings would be closed this season, ieaving only the Bowmanville and Darlington rinks in operation. As a resuit, ice time was reduced and the $18 fee covers only one game per week, compared to hast year, when $30 was charged for a, weekly gamde and practîce. Council agreed Monday, Sept. 20, to charge the $18 fee subject to the availability of ice time. In other words, if the Orono and Newcastle arenas are kept open, the town could increase the price of recrea- tion hockey to $30 per year an~d the fee would include an extra game or practice every week. Joe K5ennett, olt me town's Recreation _Department, said esterday that registration for the Bo wmanville based recre- ation leagues hegins next week and runs Irom Monday to Friday.
