Tbe change means that if the Old Age Pension, Canada Pension, or the Old Age Security Pension are increased due to eîther adjustments to wage or price index or cost 'of living, the increase wili not affect any company plan benefits being paid. Over the past tbree years Floyd bas presented. bis Prîvate Mem- bers Bill advocating this change since whenever the above plans changed the amounts of money affected were returned to tbe company and not to the pensioner. ln the spring session of 1976 ail parties supported the bill and now it is legisiation. Everyone knows that wolves sometimes appear in nursery rhymes and fairy tales but the town's finance commnittee learned Monday that wolves have also been appearing in the Town of Newcastle. Town treasurer, Joe Des- cent told the committee that a farmer who lost a number of lambs to animais that are believed to be wolves is asking the town for compensation. The farmer is Russell Dow, - who lives northeast of Bow- manville. Mayor Rickard said hie know of a case in which wolves had attacked a caîf about a mile and a haîf north of Bowmanville and Councillor Bruce Tink said wolves have of ten been seen in fields from the eighth line north. Counicillor Tink said the situation is serious and some- thing should be done. For a while, the finance committee considered Coun- cillor Ken Lyall's suggestion that a bounty of $10 per wolf be paid by the, Town of New- castle. However, Mayor Rickard suggested that the fee of $10 was too Iow and that the town w ould find itself paying hunt- ers for wolves that were killed in municipalities wtotwolf argueýd 1thatc a by-law to place -a bounity on wolves wouldn't be official until the new year. The finance committee de- cidedto recommend that the rçinof Durhamn pass a bylwto establish a wolf bounty across the entire Region. The finance committee's suggestion will go to council and if council approves, the suggestion will then go to regional council.
