4 The Canadian Statesman, Bow ~SHAW'S 4-11HAwardsiNigt Several familles from SI'aW's were pleased to attend the 4-H Awards Nght for Durham County, held in Blackstock Recreation Centre last Friday evening. After a fine roast beef supper was served buffet style to over 250 interested parents and friends, the head table guests, were introduced by Týom Barrie - Vice President of the 4-H Club Leaders' Assoc. The iresentation of awards followed with Don Rickard and Neil Allin as leaders of the 4-H Beef Club. kevin Crago was the only local boy to complete his Beef Club pro- gram. Keith Barrie, Bruce -and Janet Brown received completion awards for the 4-H Dairy Caîf Club. Janet Brown was the top member in the -Junior Section of this club and she received the Gladibrae Farm trophy presented by Francis Jose. The members completmng the 4-H Field Crops Club included Keith Barrie, Bruce and Janet Brown. Bruce Brown was awarded the Agricultural Chemicals Ltd. Award as the top member in the corn section for 1976. Completing the 4-H Land- scape - Gardening Club from Shaw's were Janet Brown, John David Killeen and Mich- ael Locke with Faye ,Lang- maid, Solina receiving the top award - The Frank Samis Trophy. John Ayre- was the only Shaw's member to complete the 4-H Sheep Club and he was awarded the James Coombes, Thistie Valley Award for the showing of the top lamb at Orono Fair. This prize was presented by Margaret Coombes. Steve Barrie was the leader in the 4-H Small Engines Club and those completing the club included Keith Barrie 'and Bruce'Brown. In the Snowmobile Club Steve Barrie was an assistant leader with John Ayre, Keith Barrie and Bruce Brown among those who successfully completed the club. A.O. Daîrymple, Agricultur- al Representative for Durham County presented the Royal Bank.Award to the top Junior Judge at the County Judging Competition held in July - Bruce Brown. The top demonstration team was the 4-H Landscape - Gardening Club and the team members, Faye Langmaid, Kathryn Knox and Janet Brown gave their winning demonstration and received the Durham 4-H Memnber's Council Award. The Junior Farmers Square 'dance team demonstrated their skills for everyone's enjoyment with Mr. and Mrs. James Lowry as musicians and Mr. Ransberry, Orono as caller. 1The evening concluded with the presentation of the club certificates and pins to suc- çessful members and leaders for the many completed pro- jects. .The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Watches were presented to the top 4-H Girl and Boy of 1976 - Elaine Kellogg, and John Devries. Congratulations to all of these young people who have achieved so much during the past 4-H season. OBITUARY .LARECEH.MULDREW- (DOC) A former employee of Gen- eral Motors who retired in 1965, with 38 years of service, Lawrence H, (Doc) Muldrew, died at. Bestview Lodge, Oshawa, Saturday, October 30,1976. Funeral services were held at the D.E. Allison Funeral Home, Mill Street North, Port Hope on Tuesday,ý November 2, 1976 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at Port Hope Union .Cemetery. Rev.
