The League- game was played at the Memorial Arena. .Markham opened the game in an impressive fashion, scoring the first goal of the game at the 6:40 mark. Just 23 seconds later, Jon Clieff sent the Toros in the iead when he scored a picture goal, assis ted by his linemate Jeff Dawson and defenceman Pierre St. Amand. In the final period, Mark- ham scored to again deadlock the score. The goal came at the 1:37 mark, Bowmanville's Brent Neill sent the Toros in the lead with a superb scoring effort by the entire line. Assists on the play went to McLaughiin and Dreossi. The insurance mnarker came at the 4:65 mark of the final period and was garnered by Dawson and assisted by Clieff. Alan Ulrich was in the net for the Toros and was very, sharp, particularly in the, opening period when his teammates were a littie shaky. The game winner came from Panthers captain Brad Davis with only 1.04 lef t in the third assisted by Duno and Freeman af ter loose checking, beating Bob Koczu- lab who played a steady game. Bowmanville Port Darling- ton Marina and Hotel Junior Cs played Sunday, night against Cobourg Cougars in the local deep freeze winning by an 8-2 count with both teams wearing ont the hinges on the penalty box doors also giving the busy timers writ- er's cramp and cold feet for the hockey fans, the game taking aimost three hours to be played with a total of 137 penalty minutes handed ont by AI Dick who wore ont a whistle trying to keep the game under control.
