Baker. Mr. and Mrs. John Baker spent the weekend snowmobil- ing in the north while Rick and Steven spent:the weekend with cousins Brian and Bob Goble, Blackstock. Owing to the very cold spel club 50 ladies postponed their monthly meeting until Jan. 18th which was held at the home, of Mrs. F. Janssen. Pres. opened the meeting and conducted the business. Plans were made for Penny Sale in the faîl and wool was given out for members to start knitting. Mr. Dick Gibbs showed us some very interesting pictures taken on trips as well as places around home. Meeting closed in the usual manner and a lovely lunch was served. A Valentine Auction will be held at the Feb. meeting at the home of Mrs. Stan Goble Feb. 9th. Mr. and Mrs. H. Murphyý were Friday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Kovacs and Saturdày evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Davis and family, Altona. The Senior Sunday School class are serving coffee after our morning church service Sunday Jan. 3th in the C.E. wing. Jody Williamson, Tyrone and Ruth Baker were Sunday supper guests of Misses Judy and Louise Kovacs. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hall and Lisa, Janetville were Satur- day evening visitors of the G. Baker's. Mr. and Mrs. G. Baker, Ruth and Garry were Friday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Kovacs and girls. REPORT The January meeting of the W.I. was held in the C.E. Hall on Jan. l7th at 8 p.m. The Vice-Pres. Mrs. A. Vandergaast was in charge of the meeting. She opened the meeting with a welcomne to all and read a poemn entitled The New Year. The roll caîl "Name a woman prominent in the Current Year" and Bring ,a foreign coin and tell where its from." The Summary Day for the Senior Short Course 'A Fes- tival of Dairy Foods' will be held in Orono on Jan. 24th at 1: 30 p.m. Mlaple Grove Wl. is to supply the coffee and Mrs. Polak is bringing a large cheese cake and cheese tray. It was agreed to donate $40 to the Board of Stewards for the use of the C.E. Hall. Also Valentînes are to be sent to sick and shut-ins. Mrs., H. Bradley gave the 'Good Neigh- bour' Report for Mrs. S. Morton. Mrs. H. Cryderman intro- duced Miss Laurie Van Camp, one of our local girls who had been a Rotary Exchange Student to Australia, Lawries pictures and commentary of, her time spent in Australia showed us that she was a worthy ambassador for Can- ada and Bowmanville. Mrs. H. Bradley moved a vote of thanks to Laurie for sharing her experiences with US., The Motto 'Courage is what it' takes to stand up and speak, also what it take>to sit down and listen.'
