Mr. and Mrs. Gary Ough of Port Hope and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jackson of Etobicoke, Monday callers at the Youngmans were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Worr of Camp- bellcroft, Mr. Worr retired recentiy after 29 years of service as a mail carrier in the Campbellcroft area. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Malley of Bowmanville were Sunday dinner guests,of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis McKay. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Beggs spent from Thursday to Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beggs and family in Port Elgin, On their return trip they brought with them six new dining room chairs for the manse ln Bethany. These chairs were picked up in Chesley.1 Eight tables of euchre were played on Wednesday night in Pontypool Community Centre. Winners were Grace Fallis, Joan Richardson, Jim Propp and Keith Dewar. Jim Propp also won prize for most loue bauds. The next card party will be on Weduesday, Feb. 9th. Ballyduff card party was cancelled on Friday night but another will be held in two weeks. Get-well Wishes are extend- ed to Mrs. June Bull of Mauvers Station who is a patient in Bowmanville Hos- pital. Jim Molloy has also been on the sick list for the past few weeks. We are glad to report that Merita Willis and Doug Pingle both returned home this week from hospital. Keith Dewar retired on Friday after 26/ years ser- vice with G.M. Keith will have time uow to pursue some of bis many talents. Oue of these is sewing-witb neediepoint a speciality. We saw some of Keith's bandiwork that he did wbile recuperating from in- jres received in an automno- bIle accident, and, believe me, it would put some of us women to shame. It is ueedless to say auy- thing about the weather we had over the past weekeud. AIl are aware of the high winds and driftiug snow whicb were indeed hazardous for anyoue on, the roads. Many local citizens' were involved in traffic tie-ups on Hwy. 401 and 115: It took mauy of them 5 to 7 hours to drive ho-me -from Osbawa and Toronto. Clar- ence Pleadwell, left Windsor at 2 a.m. on Friday, reached the intersection of Hwy. 401 and Harmouy Rd. at Oshawa about 2 p.m. where he was beld up in a severe traffic jam and fiuaily reached- home around 8 p.zm. Ai local sehool, buses were able to,ý get the pupils of Grandview Elemeut- ary Scbool home safely. One of our local bus drivers, Mrs. Gloria Dunford, is most ap- preciative to Keith Mitohell and Bob Green for goiug ahead of her bus with a township plough. She said that, without their services, she neyer couldbhave made the rounds. Grandview is closed today, Monday. Jan. 3lst. The first meeting of the local 4H Club will be held at the home of Mrs. Shirley Campbell on February 9th from 7 to 9 p.m. Gary Bristow will be supply- Ing music for the local Chamber of Commerce dance on Saturday night. (See Com- ing Eveuts). Mr. and Mrs. Cilff Curtis, Dwayue McCarrell and friend left for Florida on Friday but their trip was brief.
