Orono' s Hall Needs Repairs To Meef Fire Regulations Repairs of about $1200 are needed at the Orono Town Hall in order to meet fire regula- tions. Fire Chief Jim Hayman completed an inspection of the Orono building last month and drew up a list of 14 changes that must be made in order to bring the building in line with fire safety requirements. Fire extinguishers, fire doors and emergency lighting facilities are ah items on Chief Hayman's lijst. Parks and recreation dir- ector, Bud Fanning, told members of council in a special meeting last Friday that "we either have to, comply withi the rules or put a' lock oný- the doo0r." He noted that the Orono hall is used several days a week with uip to 350 people in the auditoriumc during programs such as the Orono jamboree. Council voted last Thursday afternoorr to repair the build- ing as soon as possible. As weIi as changes needed to meet fire regulations, the parks and recreation depart- ment may finish a floor in the building. Cost of ail repairs is estimated at $1,462.70 exclud- ing labor. Employees with the Town's parks and recreation department will supply the labor, Mr. Fanming said. BEAT, By Dr.M.
