Make Donation to Burned Out Comrades on Sunday afternoon, a busload of comrades from the Queen's Own Rifles, Royal Canadian Le gion Branch 344, visited Bowmanville Legion Branch 178 where they enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship withlocal members. Last Q-ctber. a disastrous fire destrQyed the Queen's Own'headquarters in Toronto and they are now in the process of preparing to build. The Bowmanville Branch decided to help them alongz and in the above, photo, Sports Officer Jack Baker, left, is presenting a cheque for $100 to the Queen's Own President Jack Martin who expressed their sincere appreciation of the assistance. Ad-d New Cate gory fo Firsf Aid Contests A new category has, been added to the St. John Ambu- lance Provincial Open First Aid Competitions this year which will allow individuals to compete for a new trophy for the single Most competent First Aider. In the newv category, tearfls competing in the Provincial Open Competitions maày select one of their members to compete, and the winner and runner-up in the Pulp & Paper Makers Safety Association Competition for individuals will also be eligibie to enter. ,The individual competition will follow the team competi- tion for teaVis of senior men, senior women, senior mîxed, intermediates and juniors. The competitions will be held at Moss Park Armoury, To- onto on April 30, at 2 p.m. This year, 45 teams are expected to vie for the coveted Earle C. Morgan Trophy which is awarded annually to the team with the highest overaîl score. The pubic is welcome to attend. During the week of March l4th to the 20th March 1977, the Ontario Provincial Police at Newcastle investigated a total of 23 motor vehicle collisions and approximately 75 general occurrences. The majority of the acci- dents investigated occurred on Friday the l8th and Sunday the 20th and were the resuit of adverse road and weather conditions. Fourteen of the 23 accidents resulted in property damage only and in the remaining 9 a total of 17 people were injured,' four seriously. Following the investigations of these acci- dents three persons have been chargd with impaired driving Iand two with Careless Driv- 1ing. The general occurrences include investigation into complaints of Wilful Damage, Break, Enter and Theft, and Theft. As a result of these investigations, five persons have been charged with offences contrary to the Crim- mnal Code. Driving Tip Officially Spring is now with us.
