16 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmnanville, April 6, 1977 NESTLETON Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Rohrer, and Mr. and Mrs. Len Mennen returned home on Friday from their Florida vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer enjoyed one month in an apartment at Fort Myers. On March 17, Mr. and Mrs. Mennen flew down and spent ten days with Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer. This being the first trip for the Mennens they were taken to many points of interest by their hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Rohrer. On Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Wilson returned fromn a delightful two months' vacation in Florida. 1Mr. and Mrs. Norman Johnstone, proprietors of the Country Store, have sold their property to Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Dixon of Cambridge. The Johnstone's and son Brent will be residing in Prince Albert. On Saturday evening Mn. and Mrs, Belfour Moore were hosts for a dinner partv to honour her sîster and bro- ther-in-law, Mr. anci Mrs. Wm. Jenkins of Whitby on their twenty-fifth wedding anni- vensarv. Guests for this happy occasion were the honoured couple, their daugh- ters, Cathy, Peggy and friend. As a special surprise Mr. and Mrs. Derrili Condella of Kel- owna, British Columbia, arrived on Fniday evening. Mrs. Condella is a sister of Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Jenkins and it was a most enjoyable reunion. Other guests wene present fromn Windsor, Toron- to, Whitby, Bowmanville, Barrie and Nestieton. On Sunday evening Mn. and Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm were evening dinnen guests of Mr. 'and Mrs. Howard Malcolm and Candy. Mr. and Mns. George Seil- lers,, Collingwood, were Sun- day callens with Mr. and Mns. Robert Mairs and Steven. 1Mn. and Mrs. Norman Mairs and Mr. and Mns. Gordon -Metclaf attended the Bashful Beaus' Square Dance party in Bowm-anville on Saturday evening. This is a club which participates in modern square dancing. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dayes had evening dinner with her sister Mns. Reg Sutton, Orono. 1Mr. and Mrs. George Bow- ers, Mrs. Wlfred Vine, Dan- lene and Debbie visited Con- stable Jerry Bowers in his new home on Sunday and were evèning dinner guests. Mr. Mark Shaw, son of Mr. and Mns. Lee Shaw returned on Sunday following eight months' participation in the Canada World Youth Pro- gramme. For thnee and one half months he hias been in the Philippines. The remain- der of the timne was spent in Western Canada. In the Philippines the temp- eratture ranges between 85 degrees and 90 degrees Fahrenheit but the day that Brian left the temperature was 100 degrees and the humidity is very high. The rainy season commences in June. Crops grown consist of vanlous types of bananas, sugan-cane and coconuts. On the flight home stops wene made at Manilla, Hono- lula and San Francisco, to Vancouver for a total time of 22 hours. In Vancouver Brian had the pleasure of visiting bis sisten and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Jim Paton for twelve houns. Brian bas had a marvellous expenience. Friends are looking forwand to hearing hlm speak at a couple of group organizations. The community extends a great big "welcome home" to you, Brian, and may you continue to have success in your chosen field of endeavour. Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Shaw to honour Brian's home-coming were Palm Sunday-the excitement of the crowd and the quietness of Jesuis. United Church In the United Church Rev- erend Victor Parsons chose "IBnief Acclaim" as the theme for bis message reading Mathew 21: 1-11.' The multi- tude was filled with nemorse on Jesus', humble entrance into Jerusalem but with this there was also a feeling of gratification that Jesus was chosen as king. The crowd honoured and welcomed him as they placed their garments and palm branches in the way. Miss Laurel Vine sang a lovely solo, The Old Rugged Cross to ber ow,ýn accompaniment on the guitar.
