A substantial portion of this sum will be for use in the Town of Newcastle. The main purpose of the grant is to provide care and support services for Senior Citîzens to enable them to remain in their own homes. The Town of Newcastle social planning council have arranged a meeting for Thurs- day, June 16 at the Town Hall, Newcastle, to discuss the subject. and it is hoped a Steering Committee will be formed to organize the pro- ject. All interested citizens are invited to attend. Committee Agrees on Liberty St. Siew.alk, Members of the Town of Newcastle's pu4blie works committee have agreed to plug n 300 foot gap in a sidewalk along Liberty St. north in Bowmnnville. Works director :Jack Dun- hnm snid in a report to the commîttee last week that it would cost an estimated $6,500 to build the extra sidewalk from Sunset Rd. to the CPR overpass. The works commîttee is recommending that the side- walk be constructed in accord- ance with the town's current policy on updating sidewalks. In other words, the walk is to be paid for out of general tax revenue or lot levy funds and not by homeowners with property fronting on the sidewnlk.
